I'm having surgery on my vocal cords next week and need ideas on what foods are easy to swallow. Can you help?

NO tomato sauce of any kind!!
NO ICE CREAM, it creates a milky paste in the mouth
Popscicles are really cool, and the ice helps reduce the pain.

You can eat anything just put it in a blender.

I know what you mean. That's why I suggested homemade. My husband has HBP so pretty much everything has to be homemade because of salt content on prepackaged items. Homemade tastes better anyway and goes down smooth.

The baby food section really isn't such a bad idea. Some of it is very blan, but it does have the nutrients.
My nephew loves the blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler isn't bad either.

Warm tea with honey. Tea has tannic acid in it. I wonder if it would be good for a sore throat?
Tanic acid is a vaso-constrictor. If you have a cut that won't stop bleeding you can put a wet tea bag on it and it will stop the blood flow. It really really works, however, it will sting like h*ll.
Yogurt would be easier to swallow but it too might be a problem. Milk products can have an effect on mucus membranes.
I think we need professional input. Any freeper dietitians out there?

guacamole is not only smooth and tasty but loaded with calories so you won't have to eat a large volume of food to feel full. Good luck and a speedy recovery to you

My son has had numerous surgical procedures on his mouth. You can usually start with clear liquids and then progress to more solid food. I have some great soup recipes when you get to that phase let me know I will be happy to share.

Mashed potatoes with lots of butter. Lipton Noodle Soup (in the box). (Very small noodles and extremely easy to swallow). I speak from experience. I lived on these two things for a couple of weeks when I had my wisdom teeth cut out oh so many, many years ago!
