Come Welcome the Move America Forward Caravan in D.C. Tonight.

Gathering of Eagles partner Move America Forward has been leading a cross-country caravan of Gold and Blue Star families, veterans and other patriotic Americans that arrives tonight in Washington, D.C. after a week long trek that began in San Francisco last Thursday.

Local and early arriving Eagles are encouraged to greet the caravan when it arrives at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW.

Please plan to greet them between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. They’re scheduled to depart from Richmond, Va., at 3 p.m. and head up I-95 to D.C. That’s a bad stretch of road for afternoon commuters so that’s why the arrival time is a bit sketchy.

The Move America Forward caravan has collected over TEN THOUSAND American flags from proud patriots across the country to send to units in Iraq and Afghanistan as a message of support for our troops and their mission fighting the war on terror.

Turn them back, O Lord, that their hands not desecrate that which we hold sacred ... that their voice be drowned out by purity of love and honor ... that those who now serve in defense of freedom will be honored by what we say and do in the hours and days ahead.

Most Merciful Father, may the Power of the Holy Spirit come upon those whose eyes do not see the beauty of this land ... whose ears do not hear the goodness of its people ... whose feet do not rejoice in walking in freedom ... whose hands do not hold in gratitude all that You have given. Change their hearts, Lord, for You are not willing that any should perish, such is Your love.

My one regret so far is that I have had to leave my car behind at Camp Lejeune. I made it this far driving alone, but for the homestretch I've elected to ride with a fellow Marine Veteran and onward to DC while it takes a well deserved break.

I would LOVE to be among the patriots attending the Gathering of Eagles in Washington, but I DID meet and reported on the Move America Forward members, and talked with the Rolling Thunder when they came through Memphis. They are AWESOME! I hope that pics from the Memphis stop will be posted soon.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful, supportive messages. He doesn't FReep yet, but I told him I would set up an account so he could let us all know about the good things they do out there when he can.

This deployment is hard. It's hard simply because of the lack of mainstream support, so any of the libs out in the world who think that their "support the troops, bring them home" signs help, they don't. Flat out. That isn't support, and they aren't fooling any of these guys (and gals). I'm so glad you all who are going are going to relay that message. My little girls (7 & *) even know the difference, I don't understand how they don't get it. But I digress. Thanks again, so much.
