So why did he yank the gun permits of **27,000** law abiding people?

Rudy made criminals out of people who had conceal carry permits in New York City. So it's a little more than keeping F-18s out of people's garages. Still, he doesn't seem to want to ban all guns from the face of the earth, so at least he's a little better than, say, a completely whacked-out far-left liberal.

At least with Rudy, you know if you want to buy a grenade launcher, he wants you to register it.....

Nice spin. "Grenade launchers" are already controlled. He want to get his hands on whatever it is you're keeping in your nightstand to protect against burglars who can't get guns because the freaking Democrats and Rudolph Giuliani passed a law.

Rudy has been NARAL's guest speaker at abortion banquets. And he proudly marched in gay rights parades in the streets of NY.

Yes, but he doesn't actually PERFORM abortions, so he's not as liberal on the issue as, say, Planned Parenthood.

And he's not actually in favor of gay MARRIAGES, just gay civil unions, which are different than marriages because the word union doesn't have an "m" in it.

So Rootie thinks the 2nd Amendment doesn't cover NYC?

It doesn't at the present time.

Until the Supreme Court says that the 2nd amendment also applies to state and local governments, and is not just a restriction on the federal government, then it doesn't apply to actions by the NYC authorities.

That's just the plain legal reality of the situation, and criticising reality is important, but has limited value.

But it's just registration. Registration doesn't actually take away handguns, so long as government wouldn't actually use the registration information to come after you, like some liberal mayor in New York City might do, say, to concealed weapons permit holders.

Mayor Rudumbo is a stealth candidate. He's being manufactured like sausage (only the lisping liberal twit is unfit for human consumption).

The Rudybot is carefully managed---he went to CPAC and said nothing conservative. He is allowed to say nothing that will hurt his poll numbers.

Course now that his forum stalkers are cutting and pasting this post---we "may" see The Rudybot mouth a few choice words, about nothing in particular.

If NYC doesn't want to follow the same constitution everyone else does, maybe they should move.

When asked about whether Giuliani's views on these same issues (Guns) would be enough to prevent them from supporting him, few registered Republican voters said it would,................... Certainly 65% would not vote for him if they knew his in drag constume context: pandering for the gay vote of NYC.

Riggggghhht.

Look up how difficult it is to buy and keep a handgun in new york. They are things the only the rich and politically connected can get. That is the kind of system he wants nationwide.

BTW, if you want to talk about taking things away, ask freeper pharmboy about rudy and guns. He had his permit yanked during Rudy's administration, but was able to keep it during the two previous democratic administrations.

criticising reality is important, but has limited value.

How so? We mean to tell as many voters as possible, and they can decide. THe news is being spread as we post. I think the value in that is extremely limited if I want Rudy as president, don't you?

My comment had to do with the current legal reality of what the 2nd Amendment means to states and municipalities.

It has nothing to do with news. It's about what the law of the country is today. You can't really campaign against that and have much effect. It doesn't really matter who is President concerning this particular issue.

The Supreme Court hasn't made a major ruling about the 2nd Amendment since the time of Al Capone. I'm not sure they're going to do it anytime soon, and I hope they don't unless we are fairly confident that we have a (pardon this) bullet-proof) majority.

"It doesn't really matter who is President concerning this particular issue. "

But it does matter in the people he gets to appoint to the supreme court. Does a president who thinks the 2nd amendment is a state and local control issue merely because it currently lacks 'incorporation' going to appoint judges who agree or disagree with that position?

"When asked about whether Giuliani's [liberal] views on these same issues [guns, gays, abortion] would be enough to prevent them from supporting him, few registered Republican voters said it would," it said.

Not exactly encouraging.

He also wants to eliminate anyone's ability to buy what the brady bunch has labeled "assault weapons".

My guess, given the party leadership now in Congress, and Bush's promise to sign a bill, there will be one, so I doubt Rudy will have much involvement, nor do I see any potential legislation other than various local ordinances that will involve a President Rudy in this area. I can certainly see judicial involvement on a federal level though. My guess, and it is only that, most of the other candidates will, if questioned, admit to some limitations.
