:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Senior Taliban leader held in Pakistan
-Full Story-

Pakistani security forces have captured a high-ranking Taliban leader in the southwestern city of Quetta, a senior security official and Taliban sources said late Thursday

The capture of Mullah Obaidullah Akhund marked the first Pakistan arrest of a senior leader of the Islamist militia since it was driven from power in Afghanistan in 2001 when thousands of its fighters fled into Pakistan.

The security official and Taliban sources said Akhund, the third most senior member of the Taliban's 10-member leadership council, was arrested late on Monday, hours after a surprise visit to Pakistan by U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney.

In earlier threads on TM there were some intercepted chat messages/translations that referenced a dog disease or diseased dog so yes it could be terrorism or a test run...or there could be human food contamination that hasn't been recognized yet

Really. I don't remember seeing that. What human foods contain gluten? Probably 90% of processed foods? Very sobering.

Fifteen British navy personnel have been captured at gunpoint by Iranian forces, the Ministry of Defence says. While Iran has done this in the past, tensions were not at this level. Remember, RUMINT was that Iran was going to capture (American) soldiers in retaliation for those Iranian operatives arrested in the current surge.

I want to know something. What were the frickin' Rules of Engagement that says it's okay to allow the armed forces of a threat nation to board a ship of war and take prisoners by force of arms? I don't care if they were in Iranian waters! When I teach a CCW class for the Florida permit, one of the first things I DRILL into women is: (not yelling, but emphasis) NEVER, EVER GET INTO A CAR WITH A BAD GUY!! Get in the car and you're raped or dead. Or both. You don't need to move to get robbed. Anything that requires a bad guy to move a victim for reasons of privacy is going to be B-A-D for the prisoner. Same here. At the point of the initial contact there is hope and there is probably combat but it is righteous. Killed like a sheep taken for slaughter by the muzzie wolf has no honor. I hope the U.S. has learned from this and altered the ROE accordingly. What on earth were the Brits thinking?

A ruse to draw US naval assets into the region? LOL Be careful what you wish for! Given the right ROE, antiship missiles can be destroyed before launch at the point of origin.

"Hill bill protects flying public"
By Audrey Hudson
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
March 24, 2007

House Republicans are pushing legislation to protect airline passengers from lawsuits for reporting suspicious behavior that might be linked to a terrorist attack.

Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, introduced the Protecting Americans Fighting Terrorism Act of 2007 on Thursday, a week after a lawsuit was filed by a group of Muslim imams who were taken off a US Airways flight in November.

It is "unconscionable" that those who report suspicious activity could be "terrorized in our own court system in our own country," Mr. Pearce said on the House floor yesterday afternoon."

Sorry if this has already been posted:

Embassies in Teheran prepare escape plans

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1173879153851&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FPrinter

everal foreign embassies in Teheran are updating their emergency evacuation plans should a Western or Israeli attack on Iran occur.

According to foreign sources, foreign diplomats believe a possible attack would take place before the end of 2007. By that time, Iran might have enough enriched uranium to cause a humanitarian and environmental catastrophe from radioactive fallout should its nuclear facilities be damaged or destroyed in an attack.

Embassies in all countries generally have evacuation plans for their staff, but foreign sources describe the general atmosphere in Iran as one of heightened preparedness. Recently, several diplomatic missions based in Teheran have begun to reassess their plans, and embassies without permanent security officers have requested them.

/snip

Foreign sources say both the United States and Israel, who accuse Iran of wanting to develop nuclear weapons, want to give diplomatic efforts aimed at stopping Iran's nuclear drive the best possible chance to succeed.

But according to these sources, should the West or Israel feel that the time needed for diplomatic efforts is longer than the time it would take for Iran to obtain nuclear independence, they are likely to strike at Iran's main nuclear facilities before the damage done by such an attack would cause serious radiation fallout. Such fallout would likely kill many civilians and render some parts of Iran uninhabitable for an undetermined period of time.

High gluten flour is preferred for most baking, and especially pasta making.

I remember the "dog disease" chatter. A long time ago.

I've been reading that some suspicions are now including DRY pet food. If it can show up in pet food, it is foolish to think it cannot be in human food.

Scary!

"Most passengers were able to connect to other flights, but Mohr said those who couldn't would be placed in hotels."

It's not just wheat that contains gluten. It's things like ice cream, soup, and cereal. From the net:

SOME SOURCES OF HIDDEN GLUTEN
Bouillon cubes
Breakfast cereal – may contain malt flavoring.
Brown rice syrup
Candy may be dusted with wheat flour; ask.
Canned soups – Most are not acceptable.
Cheese spreads & other processed cheese foods.
Chocolate – Check if contains malt flavoring.
Cold cuts, Wieners, Sausages – may have gluten due to cereal fillers.
Dip mixes
Dry sauce mixes
Envelope & stamp glue
Face powder and other topical cosmetics/lotions (especially for DH’ers).
Dry roasted nuts & honey roasted nuts – Check.
French fries in restaurants – Same oil may be used for wheat-containing items; check.
Gravies – check out thickening agent and liquid base.
Honey Baked Hams™ - based with wheat starch in coating.
Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt – check ingredients.
Instant Teas & Coffees – cereal products maybe included in the formulation.
Lip Balms
Lipsticks
Mayonnaise – check thickeners; Hellmann’s & Kraft Miracle Whip are OK.
Mustard – Mustard powder may contain gluten; check.
Oil, frying – Check for cross contamination.
Poultry and meats – Check out the flavorings and bastings; even when the label says "water"; this may be hidden gluten.
Soups, soup mixes and broths – Check.
Sour cream – May contain modified food starch of indeterminate source.
Toothpaste – Check out.
Tortillas, Corn – May be dusted with wheat flour on conveyor belts.
