While I agree Gore is a lying hypocrite - I don't think we should be foc8ussing on his power consumption because it detracts from the real issue we should be going right to the root of the issue- that Gore is a freaking liar and his 'research' is total crap and a lie.

He has been allowed to foist his lie on the whole world uncontested except for in a few obscure blogs and newscasts, and this is the real sin- we're losing a VERY winnable war by not getting the truth of the issue made known- but alas- we'll never be able to get it known now because the global warming ball is rolling now, and there is nothign we can do to stop this disgusting lie- we've lost this war. We're all going to pay dearly for our innaction now. The 'carbon taxes' are already being enacted in some states, and businesses are already being penalized for their carbon emissions.

The U.N is going to be collecting trillions and trillions of our dollars for somethign that we will NEVER EVER be able to change no matter what we do.

And, can I re-sell that offset to someone else? If it is to be traded as a commodity it must have enduring value.

Why does this 'carbon offset' thingy remind me of Enron? Weren't they involved in a similar scam?

So, in order to "offset" their carbon use it means that everybody should go out and buy a few square miles of forest. Simple. If you have the millions in spare change like Gore does.

The forest is already in place - so the net effect is zero. The only way Gore could justify this is for him to purchase land with no vegetation and then plant trees.

You'll have to speak to Al about that. He says it counts.

What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, to bring their footprint down to zero."

Be aware that this exercise would also allow the government to identify an entire class of citizens that are "carbon offset poor". Americans might be required to purchase offsets (wealth re-distribution!) from the "forest-dwelling bark-munchers" of the moon bat fringe!

Think of it as the old concept of Catholic Dispensation for the modern Atheist...

Actually it was the selling of indulgences not dispensations that got the Catholic Church in trouble a long, long time ago.

So basically even though Gore 'balances' his lifestyle with carbon credits, I and your average American still use less energy than him.

ASSHAT

"... Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family's carbon footprint -- a concept the right-wing fails to understand.

The company from which you purchased the credits will go plant a tree or invest in an alternative energy plant or similar to offset your emissions.

So, that means every month a company is planting a forest somewhere in Tennessee because of Algore???

Nothing more than a grab for the cash!

The U.N. crowd and Chirac are already talking about a "carbon tax."

It won't be long before the frauds of the legal community flood the courts with law suits to cash in on this "whiplash science"
