I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.
It sure does, which is why I find it so befuddling.
The way these threads are playing out, youd think the primaries are over and we are already stuck with rudy and hillary. so much could happen between now and then.
New York and California are not the be all end all of the US. A hellofalot of people in red states live in between them. Rudy supporters act like we don't even exist. They are in for one hell of a surprise come election day if Rudy is the nominee.
He's not "running" on them right now because he knows he has to run away from them in order to get enough votes to win the nomination. But that doesn't erase his years of supporting those things. Nor am I convinced that he's suddenly, conveniently changed his views.
Good post, but I don't agree with your perspective that they will take Republicans and America down with them.
They're destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over, and will end up rendering themselves even more ineffective and irrelevant, if that's possible. Being obnoxious and demanding about it, will just keep driving people away. I don't really think that's a bad thing.
Plus, if the RR wants to be taken seriously, their leadership could start by keeping their pants zipped up and stop engaging in gay affairs, and the citizenry could start by electing conservatives in the heavy RR states and close up the abortion clinics that serve them.
No, I'm not convinced either. But he is now taking a pro-life position.
Dont NY and CA usually lean left most of the time anyway?
I know CA elected arnie, but hes not really a conservative either.
Yes, apparently noones getting the clue from the 06 elections.
instead they are running MORE to the left which will cause a total landslide for hillary (or whoever the dem pick is).
Its political suicide.
Im hopeful though and i think by september or october when hunter is really gaining steam (which is about right) folks will be so sick of the names rudy/hillary/abama, hell be breath of fresh air:-)
I know im already getting worn out by them and were barely getting started.
Ive been taking so much excedrin im going to give my self an ulcer;)
Among the 13,000 people arrested under martial law was a Maryland Secessionist, John Merryman. Immediately, Hon. Roger B. Taney, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States issued a writ of habeas corpus commanding the military to bring Merryman before him. The military refused to follow the writ. Justice Taney, in Ex parte MERRYMAN, then ruled the suspension of habeas corpus unconstitutional because the writ could not be suspended without an Act of Congress. President Lincoln and the military ignored Justice Taney's ruling.
Finally, in 1866, after the war, the Supreme Court officially restored habeas corpus in Ex-parte Milligan, ruling that military trials in areas where the civil courts were capable of functioning were illegal.

While I am very flattered that you would mistake my post for Emmett Tyrrell's work, I doubt that he would be. ;)
The opening sentence in the post in question references the Tyrrell piece on Rudy. I suspect I wasn't clear that what followed was mine.

Ummm...errr...
yes, and a dang good piece it was!
I did find the original piece by Tyrrell and linked it earlier. Its encouraging, though he does not go as far as your poetry did..... :>)
Do the math, FRiends. Since 1972 and the unlawful resolution on RvW by the USSC, America's birthrate among multi-generational Americans has declined to below replacement level. Today 2/3 births are to ONE and TWO generation "Americans", or those whose forefathers had little or no sweat equity in building this country. Consider how that changes the dynamics of the USA. Consider also, the highest birthrates are among those less likely to abort their young based on religious belief - ie. Latinos and Catholicism.
Now carefully read Deuteronomy 6:4-15 with emphasis on #15. The hand is wiping already - you just don't recognize it even though it's clearly in front of you.
Rudy is a statement of the DIRECTION in which this country is willing to take.
Under NO circumstance shall THIS one vote for an abortion advocate. I'm willing to take my chances based upon long-held principle. Whatever happens by default is beyond my control, but I'll never cast a direct vote for one. I'm certainly resolute of that.
Didn't follow the Talent race. Allen helped the MSM narrowly defeat him with his macaca statement. Santorum lost due to his close association with Bush. This election was primarily about Bush and the Iraq war. Bush and the GOP didn't even begin to defend themselves let alone go on the offensive regarding Dem corruption and other issues which could have given voters reason to vote Republican.
By the way, Santorum couldn't have been beaten if his opponent weren't pro-life.
I posted the following yesterday:
We must not get sidetracked by this. We must take the offensive against hillary clinton directly by targeting precisely the demographic clinton is targeting: women and especially single women (as well as indirectly with Rudy by making sure a winner and not some supposedly doctrinally pure nobody loser will oppose her). If women are fully informed about (1) hillary clinton's role in the clinton rape of Juanita Broaddrick and other predations, (2) the clinton terrorism failure and why it happened, and (3) the clinton documented abuse of power--the Barrett report - (and we must get our hands on the 120 pages doubtless redacted via the very clinton abuse of power documented in those redacted pages), then hillary clinton will never win, even against a wounded Rudy Giuliani.

Still haven't seen any evidence of that.
as anti-Islamofascists as GWB
So is Joe Lieberman, are you saying that Lieberman isn't a liberal?
When someone stoops to the kind low mud-slinging of irrelevant personal stuff of questionable authenticity that is solely designed to slur a candidate's character with whose issues he disagrees
When you say "questionable authenticity" are you questioning the fact that Rudy has been married three times? Or do you question the fact that he is a pro-death, pro-homosexual gun grabber?
The 'rats created this type of campaign by character assassination, and we ought not to allow anyone on our side to use such despicable tactics. We're supposed to be better than that.
Really? Let me refresh your memory with two words for you, VOODOO ECONOMICS.
That is why Calpernia is sounding like a DU plant
So, someone on a conservative forum who points out that Rudy is liberal is a "DU plant" in your estimation? Is Jim Robinson a "DU plant" too? Last poll I saw here, Rudy was supported by about 15% of the members, are you saying that the remaining 85% of us are "DU plants"?
Very interesting Map. I bet it drives candidates crazy to try to figure out a denomination to join to maximize votes.
From HILLARY "Zelig" CLINTON: WHEN A CONGENITAL LIAR'S RUTHLESS AMBITION EXCEEDS HER ABILITY:
In the Wellesley thesis, hillary discussed "how to change the American political culture." This discussion occurred in the context of a tribute to the leftist political organizer, her mentor, Saul Alinsky. Does missus clinton reveal her own thoughts on the radicalization and even balkanization of the American political process? We can't yet say with certainty because the thesis has been sealed--closed to public scrutiny--from the moment missus clinton insinuated her radicalizing, balkanizing, liquidating self onto the national political stage. If I had to guess, I would say she adopted Saul Alinsky's theories and practices without modification: hillary clinton exhibits no creativity, no vision of her own and tends to glom onto the latest fashion, whether it's Alinsky's Stalinist methods... or New Age occultism, recall her attraction to the teachings of
Houston was described by some as a "New Age" author who "studied psychic experiences and mystical connections to historical figures and other worlds." When the story of the Houston connection became public Houston became known as hillary clinton's "Eleanor Roosevelt Conduit."

That document at post 125 was created by Giuliani's own 1993 campaign.
Bears repeating. I love your profile page, btw.
Many single issue voters will vote against him. It just depends on which issue you're talking about.
Abortion
Guns
Immigration
Gay Marriages
Gays in Military
That's 5 issues. Want to bet there are more?
You would lose the bet. Southern Christian Conservatives are more intelligent than you think.
I'm a Southern Christian Conservative and I believe that we need a leader who will protect us from enemies at home and abroad. A President who wants to take away my constitutional rights is just as dangerous as someone with a car bomb.
Leadership is important, as long as the leader is taking you in the right direction. Hitler had great leadership skills, he was just leading his country in the wrong direction.
