Giuliani's problem with the religious [large graphics]

Posted on 02/18/2007 4:12:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.

"When it becomes a "hate crime" for you or your preacher to speak out against the gay agenda or abortion, or for God to have no place whatsoever in your public life, then you may wish you had not allowed the gay/abortionist lobby to take over and had never allowed Rudy to register or take your guns."

Sorry Jim, but the above is FAR more likely to be the case if Hitlary is elected, not Rudy. I will support whoever is the GOP nominee against 'Stalin-in-a-dress' (well, maybe slacks). I only pray that the rest of you who will not support Rudy in the primaries will say the same.

No one is going to be a perfect candidate but I guess it depends on what is important to you, when deciding what you will compromise on.

If the GOP wants to lose come election time, all they have to do is run Rudy for president. Conservative, gun loving, anti-abortion, God fearing, anti-gay union won't play good in the fly over states.

That's just nice. Even if Rudy beats the other GOP challengers fair and square in the primaries, conservatives should still stay home, is what you're advocating.

"I only ask you to think rationally and conclude that IF he is the nominee, he will deserve your support."

As I said to EV the other evening, let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

>>>From the religions standpoint, one issue alone sinks Rudy: Abortion.

Wrong. He was also married to his cousin.

Let's hear from Rudy....

OK. But please don't stay home on election day.

As I have done since I was able to vote, I will vote in the 2008 election. I have an ink pen and they still use paper ballots where I live.

P.S. LOVE your Freeper name!

Dr. Z always was my favorite Futurama character. The perpetual loser who could always be counted on to come through in a pinch.

Exactly. This is no time for the GOP to self-immolate a la 1992. Too much is at stake to allow divisions to let the WORST candidate EVER to run to gain the WH at a time that we are under attack from a fanatical enemy who will never stop until they are destroyed.

Do you want al Quaeda to again become a "police issue"????

I have rationally considered him and came to the conclusion that he supports what I'm against.

Uhm, I don't get it. Are you saying you're against the War on Terror?

Abortion, Sovereignty (Borders), Euthanasia, Hillarycare, Gun-grabbing, Kelo, Big Government and so many more issues are ALL deadly MISSLES aimed at the airplane that is America. WE CITIZENS are the pilot (or even better God is the pilot and we the co-pilot). And we must NEVER let people like Rudy and Mitt hijack us into the national suicide towers of Ba'al and Molech.

It has nothing to do with someone's core beliefs. You can be pro-choice and support a state's right to regulate and outlaw abortion.

Since abortion was taken out of the states hands, that's not good enough. We need a President who will be commited to returning these issues to the states.

Just for clarification, could you cite the source for what you attribute to RET in post #33?
Also, Lisa Fabrizio did a nice job of refuting Giuliani in this article of hers at The American Spectator.

He grabbed guns and led the fight to try and sue gun manufacterers out of business.

And he'll try this on a national level, right? Never mind the pitchforks and torches (and I'll be among them) that'll descend on Washington immediately thereafter Rudy voids the 2nd Amendment.

Can't you write a name in,,,we still use paper here..

I don't know. The candidates I wanted were always on the ballot. Something for me to check out though. I always wanted to vote for a cartoon character.

How do you suppose electing a liberal republican is going to skew us from socialism? Its just going to take us one step closer.

If we move left so will the dems. how far left do you think they have to go, before its flat out socialism? not far!

What will happen if we get Rudy is we will NEVER get another conservative elected and will essentially have 2 partys. democrat and socialism. you can bank on that.

All right.

Using a football analogy, Giuliani is Tom Brady and the others seem like Mark Brunell.
