"If this resolution passes the House and the Senate, the president could veto it, but then he wouldn't have any money," Murtha noted. "What we're trying to do is make sure people understand we're supporting the troops, we're protecting the troops, but on the other hand, we're going to stop this surge.
"The other thing we're doing is saying, no permanent bases," Murtha said.
"He did not elaborate but went on to talk about services enjoyed by U.S. troops in Iraq but denied to many Iraqis."
"Let's take, for instance, Saddam Hussein's palace - that's where our troops are living," Murtha said.

What would Johnnie Murtha do if he actually met Gen. Peter Pace? In public? In private?

I have to admit I am surprised some "Real" Soldier has not lost it and punched the old goat in the nose.
"The plot of Jackass III........"
For some reason that made me think of the first one where they were giving each other paper cuts between their fingers, toes and on their tongue. Those guys are nuts.

When he made the comment some time back that we should re-deploy to Okinawa to fight the insurgency, I thought he would never be able to say something dumber than that. I was wrong.

The sad fact is, if the throat slashers get their way, Murtha and his ilk will be first in line for the chopping block.
Murtha: But, but, Mohammed, I fought against the war. I got the troops out and humiliated Bush in the process!"
Mohammed: I know. It's been great! Thanks for you help! (SLICE)

Unfortunately, after we lost Sen Santorum, PA is solidly entrenched in the far left.

Murtha exists to carry Benedict Arnold's torch. If I hear he is an ex-Marine one more time I hope some replies that Benedict Arnold wore a uniform, too.

I fear you are right Eagles6. :-(

Our troops in the palace? I thought he said they were out "terrorizing" the Iraqi women and children. Murtha spoke of concern for the Iraqis. If it was up to him our troops would be redeployed to Okinawa and the Iraqis would not have a chance.

" I thought he said they were out "terrorizing" the Iraqi women and children."
Jon Carey made that claim. I think he and Murtha are trying to out-do each other.

Hey, Mr. Murtha--haven't you heard yet?
He's dead!

Hey, Murtha...if you and Pelosi move to Iraq maybe they'll let you spend some of your time in a palace as well...but the two of you will be expected to go on patrols during the day.

There is an exception to every rule--Murtha is the exceptiion to "once a Marine, always a Marine".
