WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.
The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182.
Resolution criticized President Bush for his decision to send more troops to Iraq is a rare admonishment of a wartime commander-in-chief.
"The passage of this legislation signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote when she endorsed the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

Shameful Republicans and that Paul - in-depends isn't he?against our heroes in action.
There is nothing rare about leftists doing horrible things to undermine their own nation at war. There will be much much more of it too. Aren't we proud to have these pathetic armchair nongenerals issuing political fatwahs to our commander in chief and the US military. Every one of them truly deserves to rot in hell for the cowardly act they committed today.
Sorry about that folks but that's the sort of thing that happens when you elect a wishy-washy pub. :(
Just another reason for Islamoterrorists to hang in there, be patient, keep picking off our soldiers and innocent bystanders.
Makes me sick.
Good catch!
But I'm sure they'll defend him some way or other.
This was a totally reprehensible and cowardly act. These people don't have the guts to vote for a binding resolution. I'm angered by the actions of this "representative" body. Don't ever forget this, and what these people did.
The 17 are probably doing the will of the people in their district. That's the real truth to be dealt with. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.
_______
If all Congresscritters do is "the will of the people" then WE DON'T NEED THEM. All we have to do is take polls and make laws from them.
Wait, that's called "mob rule."
Ron Paul??? Of all people...how is he going to come back to Texas??
Today, strong bipartisan opposition was shown to the efforts of the democratic leadership to undercut our troops in a time of war.
So what? The dems have been rebuking the President since he came into office. Business as usual in my opinion.
No, Inglis was not doing the will of the people in his district. What the hell is he doing? I voted for that moron.
The way to deal with cowards is to kick their behinds to the rear and replace them with somebody else.
Phil English, R - Erie, PA, holds the seat previously held by Tom Ridge.
Phil, you couldn't carry Tom's jock let alone fit into it.
BTW, the resolution does not criticize Bush for the surge, it says they do not SUPPORT the surge.
I might not support something you do, without criticizing you for doing it. I don't think it's smart for people climbing Mount Everest, but I don't criticize them for trying.
Yes I'll defend him. I think he is wrong, but I also think that Paul voted for the resolution because he thinks the war is constitutionally illegal...really believes it...and not just mouthing the words like the moonbats.
I think he is wrong, and I think his vote was wrong, but I don't think he voted for it for the same reason the Dems and Rinos voted for it.
Republicans who voted "YEA?"

I thought Tom Davis could be trusted.
It isn't the Dems. It is who we the voters put there and Party isn't a consideration. Historic things are happening and not all historic things are good even if anybody is left afterward to take the lesson.
"I thought Tom Davis could be trusted."
He lost my vote if he decides to run for Senate.
