For the first time since October 1999, McCain's favorability rating among American voters has dropped below 50 percent. A Gallup poll taken last month showed him at 48 percent, down 6 points from November, and down from a high of 67 percent in February 2000. Giuliani, in contrast, has held above 60 percent favorability in Gallup polls, most recently at 62 percent. Now that Giuliani has signaled a serious intention to run, stating on Monday "I'm in this to win" as he filed papers with the Federal Election Commission, the comparisons grow in importance.
For Giuliani, winning over enough of the conservative Republican base to secure the nomination has long been seen as a potentially insurmountable task. But now, analysts say, it's possible that Republican-leaning independents could make the difference in the early GOP primaries.

Despite Giuliani's slow start, he now regularly beats McCain in head-to-head matchups. Gallup in early January had Giuliani beating McCain 50 to 42 among Republican primary voters.

That's the "Lord Marshall" (Colm Feore) character, BTW--a "Necromonger" who tries to forcibly convert the universe to his "universal," pagan church. ...generally resembles a generic sort of caesar, eh?
Oh, and the flick was "Chronicles of Riddick"--kinda weird but very entertaining to watch. ...good plot, for a science fiction.
The graphic isn't loading... something might be up with the html... dont know...
Hmmm. It's working for me...cached here, maybe? Here's the URL (as it might need to be loading directly from that web server), and I'll try to find another one. There are quite a few around the Net.

This whole thing against Rudy reminds me of the fights we had over Bush, McCain and Buchanan in 2000.
Are we really gonna go there again ..??
The real point is .. do you want to win the WH - or do you want Hillary and Bubba for another 4 or 8 years ..??
A lot of people made the choice to stay home in 2006 - and because of that we have a dispicable democrat congress .. are people really ready to have a democrat WH too ..??
I'm going to withdraw from this seething argument about Rudy because it leads nowhere .. the same place the McCain arguments also led - nowhere.
This is absolutely true. The 'rats will use George Bush to beat conservatism over the head from now till November 08, beginning with his "bigspending deficits." In the mind of the mushy middle where millions of votes reside, he is a conservative and a screw up. That's life. We better face it or pay the price of denial.
The movie also had Vin Diesel in it. I think that most people have seen it.
Yep. It worked there...
Even pasting that last link in the browser didn't work very well...
I certainly don't hate Rudy by any means. However, I won't vote for him. I want a small government candidate who will work to actively reverse the damage done to our Constitution over the last 100 years. Someone who will maintain the status quo is not good enough.
ROFLOL! I love that slogan! Welcome aboard!
I agree that some are saying "let's take a dive," as they did in 2006, but I refuse to grant them the mantle of "conservatism."
A true conservative believes in free minds, free markets, less government, lower taxes. As Ronald Reagan said, the scariest words in the English language are, "I'm from the government and I am here to help you."
Anybody who wants the government to fix their booboos is not a conservative.
Lileks likes Rudy? Be still, my heart!
Yes, sweetie, you do. We've seen it many, many times.
Now, can you please do something else?
Whatever.
I think Lileks is a very, very smart man, whose opinion I respect very much.
If Lileks hated Rudy, I'd still respect Lileks, I just would not agree with him on that particular point.
But Lileks "gets" the War on Terrorism better than pretty much anybody else in the Blogosphere.
:)) Well... I will say something that many WON'T LIKE :)
I appreciate having FOX NEWS, if not solidly on our side, at least neutral... or a little bit to the right, I think it's fair to say. I "like" Hanity and O'reilly - SOMETIMES - but I generally don't watch those shows as often as I used to. Especially Hannity... I get this feeling the whole show is an "act." People pretend to be mad at each other, argue, but it's all a game really... I am simply getting tired of it. O'reilly for instance - SO FULL OF HIMSELF :) I can't stand him sometimes... but today for instance he was doing and saying everything right. He came hard to that SOB Arkin, the reporter who insulted our troops from those TWO VENERABLE INSTITUTIONS /s, The Washington post and MSNBC, I liked that. He is also keeping the story of two Immigration Agents alive... and I appreciate that too. The show that I like the most is Special report with BRIT HUME (The man!).
AND, have you heard FRED BARNEY?... to talk about DISCONNECT with the base. He actually thinks that Romney's approach is the right one. IOW, Principle should NOT matter. According to him, changing his positions is a valid approach... "It's what politicians do," I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!... for these people (FOX NES), McCain, Guiliani and Romney as just as CONSERVATIVE as they can be!... And I have YET TO HEAR THE NAME DUNCAN from anyone there... At least not while I have watched... and yes I am not happy about that. I wish we were as organized as the LEFT is when it comes to disseminate a message or actively contact the media outlets to get their point across. I guess we should start a writing campaign to "our media" (Rush, Fox, NRO, Townhall.com, etc and all the different talk host shows to ask them to give a little air time to the conservatives, not only to DUNCAN but the others as well... They deserve that much!
