[history]
Last evening, as I watched the Superbowl with my nine year old son, I became extremely annoyed at the MARS Corporation and their advertisement for Snickers which showed two guys locking lips. I can't even fathom why somebody thought that this would be a good advertisement for that particular product and why they chose to air it during this event, especially when they knew children would be watching. If their aim was to draw controversy in the hopes of increasing sales, then I sincerely hope they missed their mark. I hope that, instead, they lose sales because of their idiocy.
I called in and registered my strong disapproval this morning at 1-908-852-1000. (If you call, when you get the phone tree, just press "0")
Our family will not be buying MARS products ... Products that MARS makes/distributes: M&M'S, SNICKERS, MARS bars, Milky Way, Skittles, and TWIX.

BOOOOOOOG! Good times those.... :)

I'm going to buy them by the case, just to p*** off people on this thread. LOL.
______
That makes 2 of us. From now on, only snickers will be given out at halloween. I think I'm gonna call the number and congratulate them as well, for a great product and their unbelievably effective ad. Not really all that funny, but waaaay effective.

LOL typical of those in the media, if you have to compensate, it must mean you are homophobic, and secretly gay, but won't admit it. That is what they really are saying.
TIVO is looking more and more attractive, since one can fast forward through this garbage. The advertisements are worse than the programming, if that is even possible.

Yes, but he sings and prances around like a San Francisco homo with a gerbil up his butt. Save it for Gay Pride Week. I like to hear America's anthem sung in a straigtforward and manly way. Ummm... he was seated before his piano - and he sang it straightforwardly .
I wonder if you are projecting your own insecurities?

Hard to decide... it's a real tossup, isn't it?

I'm not sure what Mr. R. was watching, but it could not have been Billy Joel's performance yesterday. It was "straightforward and manly", he didn't prance at all, and even wore a suit and tie. Mr. Ramsbotham must have been watching something else and gotten confused. Here is Joel's performance:

Huh? Two grown men kissing is not pushing the gay agenda? It is where I live! Did you see that scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where John Candy and Steve Martin wake up in bed together? Very funny, but definitely not pushing an agenda. This ad was very unfunny, but also not pushing an agenda. If anything, their revulsion to their lips meeting was anti-gay.

Yeah it is! Some channels cannot be watched their commercials are so nauseating. I don't know about a few on this thread, but for me and mine, we do not watch anything on tv with the goal of attaining that feeling of being sick to our stomachs. We don't enjoy that, it's worse than a headache! But that is the normal reaction to this agenda. There wouldn't be enough pepto bismol in the world to quell it. We switch the channel anytime one comes up that we know is agenda driven, but these newer ones come without a warning.
I cannot even watch Sopranos anymore. That's sad.

I watched the Sopranos on HBO, so it would be commercial-free and not edited to shreds. Great, great show.

Calling that nbr likely gives the bean counters evidence that people watched it, and that is what they want to know.
Better to ignore the thing, don't buy their product, and let the sale numbers come in over the next several months.
They'll take that type of message a lot more seriously than any phone calls.

The Snickers ad has earned the moniker "Brokeback Garage" by a caller to the Howie Carr Show.

Yuck! They had to rehearse that. Totally disgusting. In our "professional" work environment, we are now referring to each other as "Snicker's eaters".

That was definitely the worst commercial of the night. Disgusting. Gotta echo your sentiment. Did a new generation of commercial makers suddenly arrive on the scene. After that I skipped over commercials by flipping to Cinema Paradiso playing on a different channel.

Everyone's so quick to BOYCOTT! things that put their nose out of joint. At least your waistline will benefit. :)

Seriously, if it weren't for self-righteous moral indignation, Free Republic would black out faster than a Kennedy at a distillery. LOL!
To: new cruelty
however, we should not discount that both my third cousin twice removed and the former governor of new jersey were married and had children and yet each turned out to be raving homosexuals. not with each other, mind you, but still... you. never...know. Very true.
You could be gay.
And if you were, I guess I'd have to boycott you.
