I don't understand how you think Huckabee would be stronger? Hunter is outspoken and will set the media/Demonrats straight. Plus, he is more steady in his positions. Huckabee is all wishy washy on the war. Take into account Hunter's expertise as chairman and now ranking member of the Armed Services Committee and the fact he is indeed a combat vet who served in Vietnam with a son who served in Iraq and that does have an effect on the public. Hunter is a strong all-around candidate when people see and hear from him. http://www.gohunter08.com

If the GOP doesn't have enough material for ads to tear the libs down, I don't know what to say.

I pray to the Lord our troops will succeed.

The dems will do everything in their power (over our troops dead bodies, that's why they're not really pulling them out... it's a death cult), to make sure Iraq doesn't succeed and butcher the constitution and law so terrorists have more rights in the US and worldwide than any American citizen. I mean... what would the left be able to do? Have you heard any creative or forward ideas for this country?

I like Duncan Hunter but remain skeptical on any US Representative being the best candidate.

There is a big difference between the functions of someone representing constituents and the executive aspects of governing. A great representative may not be the best person to govern. A representative may win in a district election but has not proven himself to be able to win on a state wide basis, which limits their campaign experience.

I have not checked each past president but none went from the US House to the presidency that I know of. Since FDR, only two (Clinton and Truman) have not had military experience (which Hunter has) and each president since FDR has experience as either being a VP or past state governor.

IF Hillary wins in 2008, she would be the second senator to accomplish that feat since before FDR, JFK being the first.

Otherwise, I perfer to wait and watch what's going on now.

Politics like many things run in families it is something they are bought up to from an early age.

Those families will always be involved at one level or another.

Also I suspect a future President maybe not directly but indirectly will be related to them.

I bet it would be intetesting to do family trees on most politicians you will find others of various levels and degrees in the family.

It is unusual for more than one to reach the highest level but not unique

Duncan Hunter...as far as I can see he is unelectable.

This is not an unreasonable conclusion, at present. But to be fair, one could make a very good argument that this applies to every Pub currently running. So, I am left with the feeling that what we, as Conservatives, have to concern ourselves with is the material that we have at our disposal from which to fashion a viable candidate.

IMHO, Hunter's stock rises under these circumstances. The public may become very weary of watching "national" figures play the same old games day in and day out as Nov. 2008 approaches. Duncan might find a niche if he is able to bring a fresh, aggressively structured approach to what Conservatism really means to the well-being of Americans.

Lincoln, hardly a physically appealing candidate, captured America's fancy because the times were ripe for change. It may be possible that Hunter is emerging at precisely the Right instant, politically speaking. Much will depend on Iraq, the economy, and who knows what else- but Conservatives must soon rally around someone or we are lost in 2008.

24 years of Bush/Clinton/Bush/possibly Clinton are more than enough of both families.

No to Jeb, no to nephews, no to daughters, no to sons, no to any more family dynasties.

Wait.  Wait.  My predictions gets better!

George P. will marry Chelsea, thus uniting the two warring dynasties and brining political peace to the land.  He'll be so adored by the remnants of the DBM (which will be dominated by E-Entertainment Television, Telemundo and People magazine) that the 22nd Amendment will be repealed.  George P. and his co-President Chelsea will serve until 2048 when their oldest child, George Herbert William Jefferson Rodham Gallo Bush, is old enough to assume the now hereditary posiition of President, or as it has come to be called by the masses, "El Presidente."

You should have read a comment I came across earlier from someone in Detroit. He compared that Michigan sinking into the conditions measured against Lebanon and how groups like Hizbullah get started through certain conditions (speaking on how radical these groups in Detroit are getting now). He spoke about the number of people leaving the area (linked to an article Will the last American out of Detroit, turn out the lights), what's coming with the downturn of Ford, the lies and uproar as muslims take over in communities, the change in small businesses and crime.

Seeing what Conservatives have tossed their caps into the race so far Hunter is certainly right there at the top., But it's a long way until next summer when we actually have a convention. Lots of time and water over the bridge before then.
