My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding. They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.
I like that thinking! Prayers continue for health and strength and hope and healing.
Prayers continue.
Dear Gretchen, Our thoughts and Prayers are with Carrie and Family. reading your last update takes me back a few years. Sounds exactly like what my Nephew's doctors said. Keep up the Positive talk around her and insist/demand the doctors don't talk over her as if she can not hear them. She Can. also when they bring her out of the coma do research on the drugs they give her. Some of them cause many side effects that will or can hender her recovery. They gave my nephew a drug called Kepra, for seizures, suposedly they have to be weaned off of this drug after 2 weeks, but the doctors kept him on this for almost 2 years at the highest dose. This medication makes your muscles sleep and over time more or less causes them to not function. Since she had him stop that medication, he has went from PVS to leg pressing over 100 lbs. Today he fed himelf and ate like a pig, steak and baked potato. Jesus is his Doctor and healer. From Ct to Tx We Pray for Carrie's full Recovery, In Jesus All things are Possible. God Bless.
Thanks for the update Gretchen.
God bless Carrie and her family.
Please keep pinging me Gretchen with updates on Carrie. Prayed for her this morning.
Prayers for Carrie and your family.~~Pandora~~
I lift Carrie up to the God that created her and loves her. His Hand is upon her - and she knows the Hand of her Father. May her family see the love of God displayed in the face of Carrie, and may their faith be made perfect.
Father, heal Carrie, the child of Your Heart... we ask it in Jesus name!
Thanks. Good news on the data trend, too.
I will join you in cancelling the negative words. May Carrie only know that everyone is praying for her and expecting her to get well.
Prayers continue for Carrie's healing.
We ask for her Healing in Jesus' Name.
Gretchen, we certainly appreciate the updates. With all you and your family have to deal with, it's extremely thoughtful to keep us on the prayer sidelines aware of Carrie's condition.
Prayers that positive thoughts and prognosis find fertile soil, and Carrie experiences a complete recovery through His love and mercy.
I continue to lift Carrie up in prayer, trusting God and praising Him for all His tender mercies!
Praying for Carrie and the family...~~Pandora~~
Carrie had a scary night last night. From me: I am sensing in my prayers the weariness, the exhaustion, of the parents, who still have several young children at home; that the parents and other adult caregivers need gusts of grace and sustaining grace and rest for this present time. We've heard from Carrie's mom and her mom's sister, P, this morning. P and her husband, D, drove over last night--through bad driving conditions--blizzard and snow. That's the kind of weather Carrie was driving in last Thursday to get to work.
A volunteer med vac young man came to see the family at the hospital last night and told them they were at the scene right away and had Carrie ready by the time the paid EMS people got there through the snow. Driving was very bad. They wanted an Air Vac to move Carrie, but they couldn't fly -- blizzard weather -- too dangerous. A Sheriff was a few hundred yards behind Carrie's car and was able to quickly rally the necessary support.
Carrie had an up and down night. It was hard on Carrie to be moved for the CT scan. P said the neurosurgeon said they didn't find anything unusual with it. They needed to get her swelling down, so they injected saline. That helped one thing, but her blood pressure went up. They did something with sugar injection and her heart beat too rapidly.
I may be wrong about what affected what in the last few sentences, but they were working diligently trying to get Carrie stabilized. Her cranial pressure went up too high last night, but it seems to be coming down now.
It's really good P and her husband D there. They will be able to make life a bit easier for Carrie's parents and sister, L.
Love, [my aunt and uncle]
Thank you, everyone who is keeping watch by Carrie's side, and with her parents and all her family.

Prayers for Carrie's healing. And many more for continued strength for her family and friends. May her doctors receive and act on Great Wisdom.
And prayers for you too, Gretchen. I think of you all often during the day.
