Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.

"LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place. He further tried unsuccessfully to engineer the passengers of each vehicle, trying to get his good buddy, Gov. [John] Connolly, to ride with him instead of in JFK's car - where . . . he would have been out of danger."

And Warren got to be Chief Justice of the Supremes.

He was already Chief Justice (appointed by Republican Eisenhower)and was why LBJ selected him to lead the investigation.

Plus why do you take what Oswald says at face value (a patsy) yet discount everyone else?

It was a serious question. All of this talk about conspiracies ignores the basic fact that conspiracies are not necessary. One man with one gun was more than enough to off the president, and that's where all of the evidence points.

So, Oswald's innocent until proven guilty in court, but that same courtesy isn't afforded the man who became president of the United States? Do you know how nutty that is?

About as nutty as saying that Al Capone was innocent of the murders committed on his orders because he was never so convicted, in particular after any pesky witnesses were rubbed out, and because he never personally pulled the trigger.

You could say the same of many politicians of either party in those looser days in which electoral oversight was much less complicated. Particularly ones who wanted to do well in pricincts in Boston, Chicago and Texas.

Actually, if I recall correctly, there was a series of images concerning that event. You know a congressman winking at the soon to be sworn in (or was it just sworn in?) President, at just about the most inappropriate time in American history.

You can drink the Warren Commission Kool-Aid if you like, but there are many who are not quite so naive.

The President of the United States was murdered, and people got away with it. It is and always shall be a national disgrace.

Listen to the audio just before Oswald was killed. Those car horn beeps were not a signal of course. In the video, the lights on and off were also not a signal to Ruby. Just all coincidence that a known wise guy wannabe had access to the Police Station while carrying a gun....and all....yeah...just all nut job stuff.

Actually, it's quite a bit nuttier, just short of the DU LIHOP/MIHOP theories, since there is absolutely no evidence implicating LBJ in any conspiracy and all the evidence points to Oswald acting alone.

And LBJ was good friends with J Edgar Hoover,(who also hated the Kennedys) and used him to every advantage.

And Hoover's visit to Texas to meet with his 8F Group pals the day before the assination? Another of those odd coincidences.

Like Nixon's presence in Dallas the day of the assassination, but later *forgetting where he was that day.* Until the real story, with multiple witnesses, came out in 1978, after Nixon was already out of power.
