The rebuilding of the GOP is what the article should read.

But of course the negative approach is wht the writer wants.

The Republicans still seated in Congress have cut and run from the voters. I wish even more loss to their numbers. They are a total embarassment.

I haven't renewed my RNC membership for 2007 yet. If the GOP cannot support W in this moment of crisis, I may send in my card.

Man. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Anybody remember the "death of the democratic party" stuff a few years ago? ;)

The GOP had collapsed before the elections. That's why they lost.

When Osama bin Laden said this: "Dealing with the pampered and effeminate Americans will be easy" it was our Congressional leaders that he was referring to.

They're proving him right.

I've never contributed to the RNC; Jesse Helms, Paul Laxalt, Orrin Hatch, Citizens for the Republic, etc. were all much more effective at identifying and electing promising candidates. This years money will probably go to Duncan Hunter and anybody that Tom Coburn recommends.

"The president, the polls say, is supported by less than 40% of the people. That's probably 85% of the GOP, however, and both numbers will grow as the focus on the Democrats' fecklessness increases..."

Whistling past the graveyard:
The dems only need a few months, a slice of time, to do all the damage they'll need for the next decade or so.
It appears they have got a good start on doing just that and, as expected, congressional pubbies are hiding out or pleading for scraps.

A typical partisan screed trying to rally the troops to save a lame-duck presidency. I don't think accusations of regicide are especially helpful to either Bush or the party.

Sometimes in politics, lame ducks really are lame ducks.

Circle the wagons! The Redcoats are coming! etc...

If the Republicans on the Hill cease to support the war, the troops, and the president, I will cease to support them, and I hope you do as well.

When you consider that the source is Hugh Hewitt, this is quite a statement.

Please be aware that this is from a blog and you can therefore go to it and post your comments directly to Hugh.

These resolutions have nothing to do with the party of Reagan, and everything to do with political opportunism that will long be remembered as a low point in the party's fortunes.

Unfortunately, most of the politicians in the Gutless Old Party are no different than most of the politicians in any other party: once they get elected, their number one priority is to get re-elected. If this means abandoning their principles, then so be it.

The Republicans have the potential to once again wander in the desert for 40 or so years while the loons run the asylum. Sad but true.

The American people have the attention span and stamina of a 1 year old suffering from advanced bronchitis. Again sad but true.

And I've, at least, concluded that another major attack here in the US is now all but inevitable. Sad though I hope not true.

"If the Republicans on the Hill cease to support the war, the troops, and the president, I will cease to support them, and I hope you do as well."

They are dangerously close to becoming the Bob Michaels type of gee, will they ask me to go golfing with them If I am nice to them Country Club Republicans.

With their support the war waining, lack of leadership in the house, and Martinez as head of the RNC, I see things getting much worse before they get any better. The only leadership that many that post here would agree with would be McConnell in the Senate and the President.

I see the GOP repeating 1964 through 1980 all over again and I hope it doesn't take that long. The next Goldwater, mark my words, Newt. we will wonder in the desert (politically) until another Reagan like figure appears.

What amazes me is that all of the leaders in power, all of them both democrat and republican, from the president to the house to the senate, can't figure out, with a staff of probably 500,000+, how to win a war with barbarians! Further, what amazes me is that the rest of the world, many nations with which we do business, watch and condemn each false step that the US makes to defeat the barbarians that affect not only us but also them too. And then, there is that loveable, and very functional, body known as the United Nations that has a handle on everything (that is of value)...........
