Stockholm syndrome. Probably also humiliated by his experiences, and maybe didn't want anyone he loved to ever know. I think that was some of what Stayner was feeling.

OMG, they are interviewing neighbors and they have seen this boy (Shawn) for YEARS.

Did he go to school? How in hell could this happen? What did this monster do to this child (don't answer, I think I know), to keep him from running.

Regarding Shawn, he disappeared on a country (Richwoods, MO), road, and it has been believed by many people here, for all these years that he had come across a meth lab, and was killed to keep him quiet.

Just reported that the perp has outstanding charges in TX, charges that occurred after Shawn was taken.

Now, a caller to local radio says the Devlin that works at the pizza place is NOT the same person.

I am with you. So relieved they are safe but feeling really choked up about what they went through, especially the boy who's been missing for 4 years. And his parents. How do you deal with joy like that and the horror of it at the same time?

I thought the same thing Steven Stayner being from CA and when Ken Parnell I think his name was toke the little boy Mike Steven went into a police station with him and said I know my name is Steven. Breaks my heart for the kid missing 2+years from his family and this other boy. Hopefully MO laws are much more harder on people like this.
