Another think tank, this one called the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU), has come out for total civilian disarmament and repeal of the Second Amendment.
Whats new about that? ISPU is openly pro-Muslim, and the ISPU writer is a criminal defense attorney who argues for repealing parts of the Bill of Rights.
You can read the whole article, entitled In the Fight Against Terrorism, Some Rights Must Be Repealed, by Junaid Afeef, on the ISPU website:
http://www.ispu.us/pages/articles/2914/articleDetailPB.html
A JPFO supporter sent us the link, and we did read the article, looking for:
a. Inaccurate facts b. Missing data and support for factual claims c. Tricks in shifting the context or changing the subject d. Statements of opinion presented as though they were unquestionable facts e. Insults, innuendoes and smears f. Key facts or considerations that are totally ignored g. Logic errors
We found many errors, fallacies, propaganda tricks, and an outright lie or two. When you read the piece, see how many you can find.
Or you can go directly to our analysis and response to the article, entitled A Muslim Writer Tells America: Drop Your Guns and Give Up" at www.jpfo.org/dropguns.pdf
We take the ISPU article apart, paragraph by paragraph. Some of the points may be familiar to you, but there are a few new twists.
Do we expect to convince ISPU or Mr. Afeef of the errors of their position? Not really. We are publishing a response so that gun owners and rights supporters can keep their intellectual guns polished and powder dry.
The enemies of the Bill of Rights come in all flavors. We can never rest, thinking that we have answered all of their challenges.
Let us know what you think after reading our response.
The Liberty Crew
From the article......
"According to the DOJs Bureau of Justice Statistics, in 2002 41 percent of American households owned at least one gun. According to these same statistics, 50 percent of the owners were male, 43 percent were white and 48 percent were Republican. More than 50 percent of the gun owners were college educated and earned more than $50,000 per year. Regrettably, these folks are going to marshal their considerable resources to protect their special interest."
Which REALLY means:
59 percent of house holds do not own a gun
50 percent owners are female
57 percent were non-white
52 percent were not Republican
less than 50 percent are not college educated and earn less than 50,000 per yaer.
Just what is this moron trying to say?
Everytime I read fools like this, I am glad we have a Bill of rights, especially the 2nd amendment!
Go tell Habib and his ilk the same thing the Texans told the Santa Anna and the Mexicans, "Come and take it!"
It is hard to decide where to begin to debunk your argument that the Second Amendment is not worth the risks, or your flawed and fabricated view of the meaning of the Second Amendment and your view of American gun owners in general.
Criminals will always have guns. Terrorists will always have guns. There is nothing you can legislate that will change that fact. Guns by the millions, much more lethal than the tame variety we are allowed to own, are widely available all over the world.
Millions of Americans will continue to jealously guard our right to maintain a well-regulated militia, separate from any standing army. It is even more vital in this day and age, when the entire free world is under deadly assault by the primitive cult of Islam.
There will be no disarmament; there will be no submission. We stand armed against the throat-cutting savages, we are the last line of resistance that cannot be crossed. Neither can we be overrun by a tyrannical government. If you think we would be ineffective against a corrupt military, revisit the story of the Warsaw ghettos, where a handful of Jews held off the Nazis for months.
This is exactly why our founding fathers so wisely added the Second Amendment, next most important to the First Amendment of free speech. Or do you also believe that free speech is only for organized government groups?
I say we keep the bill of rights and ban islam

I presume Leonidas conveyed his message in Greek to Xerxes' minions. Maybe no translation is necessary.

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.
Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you ", he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another, the Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.
Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off" , he said.
Separately, Howar d angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."
"However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia ." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."
"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom"
"We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!"
"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."
"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."
"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.
"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'."
"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."

Is this in the international phonetic alphabet (or transmission line noise)?.
Mangling of the character set. Post #70 somehow got it right.

Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership America's Most Aggressive Defender of Firearms Ownership. "To destroy 'gun control' and to encourage Americans to understand and defend all of the Bill of Rights for everyone." |
"...It's time we recognized the nature of the conflict. It's total war and we are all involved. Nobody on our side is exempted because of age, gender, or handicap. The Islamofacists have stolen childhood from the world." [FReeper Retief]
"...That the totalitarian force pitted against freedom wears a religious makes this civil war among mankind all the more difficult to engage. Loving freedom as we do, it seems reprehensible to deliberate against a religion. But this is no ordinary religion as it demands absolute obedience of all to their religion at the cost of freedom itself." [FReeper Backtothestreets]
Ok. This is how one writes it in Arabic. What is the IPA transliteration (or close approximation thereof)--i[d] e[st] How do you say it?
I think that I won't take this fellow's advice and disarm for a few reasons:
1) As a human being, I have and will do my utmost to maintain my right - and the equipment - to defend myself and my family against all comers;
2) As an American, my right to defend myself and my family against all comers is recognized and protected by the UNREPEALABLE* Second Amendment to the Constitution;
3) As a Jew whose people has been subject for some 2,000 years to various massacres, exiles, official confiscations of property, the Inquisition, pogroms, the Shoah/Holocaust, general persecution and rabid anti-Semitism, not to mention the active and ongoing threat of nuclear annhilation by a nutcase Iranian leader who is on the verge of obtaining nuclear weapons, I'm rather disinclined to be beheaded, castrated and/or enslaved by Mr. Junaid Afeef's co-religionists, herded onto a cattle car bound for a death camp, or otherwise killed, folded, spindled or mutilated by anyone, or to allow the same to happen to my family...at least not without taking more than a few of the savages with me.
As such, I vow to not only maintain those firearms that I have, but to increase their number (I've got kids, and they'll need some of their own, you know), increase my stocks of ammo and components, and to spend more time at the range improving my skills and those of as many people as I can get to come with me. Oh, and the good thing about doing these things is that these items are useful against more than merely Islamofascists bent on imposing Sharria Law on the rest of humanity...usefulness extends to common criminals out to hurt me and my family, UN soldiers, Russkie and Chicom invaders, various people in this country who say "...and I'm just here to help you" and, of course, Illinois Nazis.
*While the 2nd Amendment is not literally unrepealable, its repeal would at least constitute a sufficient violation of the terms of acceptance of the US Constitution by the 13 original states that succession would be, IMHO, fully justified (by them or any other state) and, practically speaking, would constitute official notice by the government that ALL of our rights were forfeit and that we were living in a dictatorship. I'm also of the opinion that it'll never be repealed because obtaining the approval of 38 state legislatures will never happen.
Come and get 'em, Mo.
