Why did Gerald Ford pardon Tokyo Rose?
Also, in 2004, George Takei, the manly man from Star Trek, said he's going to be making a movie called: "Tokyo Rose, American Patriot".

Yep, it appears she was convicted on perjured testimony.

Actually, she was so honored in the final year of her life:
On 15 January 2006, the World War II Veterans Committee, citing "her indomitable spirit, love of country, and the example of courage she has given her fellow Americans", awarded her its annual Edward J Herlihy Citizenship Award. According to her biographer, Toguri found it the most memorable day of her life.

Iva Ikuko Toguri was tried and convicted as "Tokyo Rose", however, Ms. Toguri was actually an American who was in Japan visiting Relatives when Pearl Harbor was attacked. She was forced to renounce her American citizenship (although she claimed she never did). While in Japan she learned Japanese and ended up getting a job as a typist at a radio station, where, according to American and British POW's she smuggled medicine and food to them when they were brought in and forced to broadcast Japanese Propaganda.
Tokyo Rose was just a name US Sailors and Marines gave to any female Japanese "DJ" during the War.

From what I hear, she was coerced into her wartime role and she actually assisted the Americans when she could. Details from someone would be appreciated.

Also, in 2004, George Takei, the manly man from Star Trek, said he's going to be making a movie called: "Tokyo Rose, American Patriot".Probably because he desperately wants to play the lead.

It turned out that the woman accused and convicted of being Tokyo Rose was not Tokyo Rose.
Ford pardoned her. She was innocent.
To: Vigilanteman
"Tokyo Rose was never a traitor by choice unlike Cindy Sheehan, Ramsey Clark and others of their ilk. She was visiting relatives in Japan when the war broke out and pressed into service." I believe that this is closer to the truth than any other commentary that has been offered here. I've never been one to excuse someone who trashes their own country, but when the knife is at your throat, who knows. Thanks for setting the record straight - or as straight as it can be set.
