The WashPo tells us today of a recent encounter between Sen.-elect Jim Webb and President Bush:
"How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq.
"I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded, echoing a campaign theme.
"That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?"
"That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House.
But that is only part of the story. The Hill takes it one step further:
Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didnt.

(I coined "Senator Ass" to describe Jim Webb. He may have already used it as a character in a novel.)

When did Webb end being a disciplined Marine and become a tantrum-throwing lout? Pretty much after Ollie North cleaned his clock in 1967.

It wasn't Bush's question that made Webb want to slug him... Oh get over yourself. Webb went to that reception with a chip on his shoulder. He was purposely avoding THE PRESIDENT at THE WHITE HOUSE.
He's an ill-tempered brat.

President Bush can get Webb's son out of Iraq tomorrow, and he should. Send the boy home to his Poppa, and let Congressman Webb deal with the consequences.

Check out the very "flattering" photo the Post uses in the story . . . looks like the second coming of Huey Long--red faced and about to burst. Given the media's proclivity to use truly flattering photos for their favorites and less than flattering photos for those they are trying to tear down, it makes one wonder what the Post's agenda is here.

But those republicans in virginia beach sent bush a message. What the hell are you talking about newby? Allen carried Virginia Beach with nearly 53% of the vote and if you think VA Beach is more GOP than that you don't know squat about the area. Those days are long gone, we're seeing the same kind of demographic shift here that NoVA has seen in recent years.

I thought the President was being considerate in asking about his son who's serving and for Webb to answer in an obvious disrespectful manner, was the one looking for an opportunity to snipe at the President. If this is the example of some so-called new blood in the dem congress, well they sure don't look like they are going to be nothing but a bunch of snarling dems, although I didn't doubt this and this only proves it. Webb came off looking like a jerk with a chip on his shoulder.President Bush was decent enough to acknowledge that he had a son serving.....and Bush didn't have to, but that's difference between a class act like the President and just a class-less punk like Webb. Ugh who the heck voted in all these losers we got...I'm already sick of these dems and it's not even January.

It wasn't Bush's question that made Webb want to slug him, it was Bush's smart ass response to the answer. I don't blame Webb one bit. It wasn't President Bush's smart ass response. It was Webb's nasty comeback to a perfectly polite question. The president was not about to get into an exchange of words on the topic, which is what Webb was spoiling for.
I don't blame Pres. Bush for keeping the conversation on topic one bit.

I don't think Allen lost because of media attacks on him; he lost because of simplistic msm coverage of Iraq which for three years has completely ignored the valid reasons why we went into Iraq and took out Saddam's regime. We also made a mistake when we went into Iraq without enough armored vehicles for our troops, probably because we were trying to have a light footprint and not look like occupiers to the Iraqis. That mistake cost us some casualties back in 2003-2004, which the media has played up to attack Republicans. Still, at this time the total number of troops killed in Iraq is less than one month's death toll in traffic accidents on American highways.
The media is now in a politically-driven feeding frenzy trying to use Iraq to rip the GOP to pieces. We need to get Iraq settled down and in decent shape by 2008 to put the msm in its place and retain control of the White House.

See, I thought Webb would have said something about wanting to pick his boy up, turn him upside down, and fellate the child.
To: Kenton
Of course, he'd be in Federal Prison...Somehow I just don't think he would be. I doubt if he would even be arrested. Think about the LEFT and MSM coming to his defense!!
A sad commentary on our culture, the state of our union and the HATE for this President, but one I believe to be true!

Someone asks you how your child is doing and you want to slug him? I think Mr. Webb has some mental health issues. His pedestrian attempts are writing are gratuitously violent and obsessively sexual, he flies into a rage at the most innocuous question. Borderline psychotic? I think you responded to the wrong post. I didn't say anything like that.

So what exactly is the surprise here? IMHO it has been evident for some time that, politics and issues aside, James Webb is the most personally despicable human being to enter American politics, as a SERIOUS candidate for office, since a young Bill Clinton figured out that he could get more BJ's that way, and Jimmy lacks Slick Willy's dignity and class. I mean, seriously, when was the last time a non-joke American major party candidate, outside of the Black community, tried to use anti-Semitism to get elected? Twice? Democrats and Virginians are getting what they deserve here, and before Mr. Webb eventually goes the way of Aaron Burr, he will provide more personality-disorder-driven unforced political errors than Bill Clinton did, with less public tolerance, because unlike Slick Willy, NOBODY likes Brawling Jimmy Webb.
