In Following His Own Script, Webb May Test Senate's Limits ("tempted to slug" Bush)
The Washington Post ^ | 11/29/2006 | Michael D. Shear

Posted on 11/29/2006 9:26:40 AM PST by ReagansRaiders

The WashPo tells us today of a recent encounter between Sen.-elect Jim Webb and President Bush:

"How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq.

"I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded, echoing a campaign theme.

"That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?"

"That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House.

But that is only part of the story. The Hill takes it one step further:

Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didn’t.

so, if he is tempted to slug the President over an innocent question, what's he going to do when there are real arguements on the senate floor, start a brawl?

Webb doesn't like being put in his place. "That's between me and my boy". What an asshole.

A lot of republican vets in virginia voted for this schmuck.

He thinks of himself as an intellectual.

He also thinks assad in syria is a moderate.

He is part of the pro arab group with baker and gates.

Virginia is so far left that bill clinton is so popular in virginia and chuck schumer is seen celebrating with webb.

How southern virginia republicans have turned this state over to the out of state libs in northern virginia is shameful.

A thoughtful question from the President makes Webb want to 'slug' him. What a POS asshole.

What an A**. Especially coming from the fact that he barely won. Oh how I wish Allen had contested that race.

This a-hole is manufacturing more controversy for the media. They used him to beat Allen but they'll soon throw him over the side. Of course a little Bush-bashing can't be resisted by the media. As soon as he steps out of the Democratic line though watch for the Wash Post to chew him up and spit him out.

You watch, Mr. Webb is going to self-destruct. He suffers from some of the same symptoms that John Kerry carries around in his head: That he is the smartest guy in the room, and woe unto the person who doesn't think so.

I don't know, there's something about Mr. Webb's face, he always looks angry about something.

Besides, Mr. Webb wasn't elected to represent his family. He's supposed to be representing Virginia in the United States Senate.

If he had. he would have outdone Cynthia McKinney for sure. Of course, he'd be in Federal Prison, so he'd probably miss out on the swearing-in ceremony.

What!!! I didn't think that law applied to Democrats. Federal prison for hitting Bush? Surely you can't be serious. /sarc

When did Webb end being a disciplined Marine and become a tantrum-throwing lout?

And WHO was it that forced his son to join the Marines? Bush?

If his son is a Marine, he is probably ashamed of his father.

Someone asks you how your child is doing and you want to slug him?
I think Mr. Webb has some mental health issues. His pedestrian attempts are writing are gratuitously violent and obsessively sexual, he flies into a rage at the most innocuous question. Borderline psychotic?

It wasn't Bush's question that made Webb want to slug him, it was Bush's smart ass response to the answer. I don't blame Webb one bit.
