I'll be working for Newt's Primary efforts in MN

We need Conservative leadership

Oh, believe me I know.. well, I think I know. You realize it turned out Perot was a good friend of Bill Clinton's and who is a better triangulator than Bill Clinton.

Yes, it was brilliant of Clinton, but Perot couldn't have pulled enough votes from Bush if Bush had thrown a couple bones to the conservatives.

This forum is read by a lot of people and it may effect their votes.

In that case, people should know all the relevant facts about a candidate before voting. But here is my problem with Newt. If a man can't keep his promises to his wife to stay faithful, why should a voter expect him to keep his campaign promises?

If his wife couldn't trust him, how can we?

The dems had no ideas either - but they were at least a change. If the GOP is creative and thoughtful - listening to the people - honest and roots out corruption - the dems could be ousted. But it is likely that the dems will come up with some new ideas for 08.

No, but what I learned when I signed up during the elections of 2004, a lot of "trolls" sign up during an election period for the specific purpose of causing trouble here and it doesn't take much for any new posters to cause a raised eyebrow or two...

He is a good thinker. But we live in difficult times and there are new ideas needed as well as new applications for the old. The public is prety clear what the GOP stands for and we lost.

The public is pretty clear on what the GOP should stand for. Could it be that we lost because the GOP forgot what it should stand for?

41 became arrogant and detached from American's day-to-day lives, so you are correct he didn't need much help in a lot of "us" jumping ship to vote for Perot... something I deeply regret because it elected Clinton in the end and hope everyone will stop and think long and hard about in '08 before they try to make a protest vote.

We have all been there. Who hasn't gone through divorce in this country. I have two of them under my belt.

The pants statement comes off as holier than thou. I a sure you aren't.

Give people some benefit of the doubt. I am sure he has grown from past mistakes, I know I have.

Still, he is of the best conservative we have with a chance of running and actually winning. I'm sure anything in his past will come up quickly and will be dealt with. If it isn't, then we all know the result of that!

Amen!

I would like to see him name his entire cabinet BEFORE the election and then have them campaign as one big movement. Pretty much tell the people in advance who will be running government and what they intent to do. If a voter likes his administration and approves of what their announced intentions then vote for him, if not, vote for someone else.

Unless his plan includes poisoning the homosexual running the NYT it's a sure bet he won't be living at the WH anytime soon.

Right you are. Not a single post seems to state what these "briliant" ideas of Newt's are. Perhaps someone who has read his writings closely could inform us. If it is not possible from his writings and appearances to elucidate what these ideas are isn't that like the Democrats? Since I and others with me have spoken and worked on ideas about energy independence for years, we are particularly interested in knowing what his new ideas for energy independence are. They don't seem to have penetrated into the media, mainstream or non-mainstream.

I'd be FAR more interested in a Republican Party seriously centered around making good on its OLD ideas, like tax restructuring, making social security something more than scam on our grandchildren, and making sure that we aren't ruined by uninvited guests in our home.

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

True. We don't need new ideas we need good ideas.

Newt is divorced. Any Christian who believes in Jesus Christ (AKA: the big guy) would be allowed to vote for such an unclean, evil man. < / sarc>

Yes.... and I found out later that all 2004 sign-ups got an extra looking at because some group (I forget which now) was actually encouraging as many people as possible to sign up here and cause mayhem...

There's a lot of Newt haters here at FR though. When I've mentioned him I get a LOT of flames thrown at me from people who HATE him.

Really odd.
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Not so odd. People who worshiped him because of his great mind, brilliant leadership and sound conservative principles were crushed when they found his feet were made of clay.
