Best Buy has poor inventory control and often doesn't have the merchandise on display. You see it, thyey bring it on Thursday when the truck runs
You buy it they order it
And Wal Mart announced they are acknowledging the Christmas season by advertising as such. No more Happy Holidays.
I think this anti-Christmas thing is going overboard, and I'm Jewish.
Look, I don't want government or public schools forcing some religious belief on me, and I don't want to face proselytizing at work.
But if a private business wants to celebrate Christmas in an overhwelmingly Christian country, why shouldn't they?
Now, I live in an area where a lot of stores choose not to do it, due to large South Asian (Hindu and Muslim), East Asian (Buddhist and atheist, some Christian) and Jewish customer bases.
But in a more religiously homogenous area, if this is what people overwhelmingly celebrate, then I see know reason why a store can't say that. If it bothers someone that much, they can shop elsewhere or on-line.
"Well, isn't that...special!"
Advertising for Best Buy reminds me of the old carny pitches, "Come and get it," "once in a lifetime," "never before seen," "the opportunity of a lifetime," "best deal ever." Anyone who shops because of those pitches and thinks he's getting any kind of good deal, is a total and complete sucker. Buying online from manufacturers is infinitely wiser if you want to get what you want to get, rather than some discontinued, end-of-the-line, possibly damaged item which, to your surprise, does not meet the terms of return, in spite of what you may have been led to believe.
Break out the mushrooms.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of their business "during that time period" is from shoppers for the "several holidays" other than Christmas.
I too will do my shopping at retailers that have "Christmas" merchandise ;-)
Well, that'll make choices easier.
Dear Dawn-Just a quick note to let you know that my family prefers to shop at stores that recognize Christmas and any other popular holiday. Lumping them all together is disrespectful.
They are a little behind in their Christmas dissing. The ones who have been dissing the last 2 years are into Christmas again. Funny, huh?
They are behind in their dissing.
Not nice
Merry Christmas
e-mailed BB and told them nicely that myself, family and friends will no longer buy from them.Wished her a MERRY CHRISTMAS.I'm going to call Circuit City to see if they have a ban.If they don't I will shop there.
too bad - I liked that store - oh well, thats thier choice
I'll just buy my 50" plasma at Circuit City or the local TV shop
Well, Dawn, if BB depended on those "several (other) holidays" to meet their sales goals by year end, they would have been out of business years ago.
Mine:
Ms. Bryant,
I wanted to wish you and your fellow employees a Merry Christmas now since I won't have an opportunity to do so in person. After spending thousands of dollars on TV boxed sets and other DVDs at your store, I will be parting ways with your company for good as of now. I am curious as to why you are only to be closed on December 25 this year, however. You should consider closing your stores from December 16 to December 23, since that is the time of Hanukah, and from December 26 to January 1, since that is the time of Kwanzaa. Failing to do so might be seen as favoring Christians, which could deeply offend . . . dozens.
Merry Christmas!
bump for later
I have a Best Buy Golf Shirt that I bought new at the flea market for just two bucks. Actually I bought a whole bunch of those Best Buy Golf shirts for just a couple bucks each including several in size 5X which I sold on eBay. Excellent quality. I liked them so much that I kept an XL Best Buy Golf Shirt for myself. BTW, I had a Best Buy manager contact me and inquired how I was able to sell them so cheap.
