John Gibson just stated that Rep. Conyers has announced that since Speaker Pelosi said that impeachment is 'off the table' that there will be no impeachment of President Bush.
The New Congress isn't even seated yet!
I believe it does...and if I'm reading my Constitution correctly, impeachment charges can't be erased with a pardon..or I suppose Nixon would have pardoned himself!
I think the Dems may rattle the sabres a bit, but they won't pull the trigger. They have to know it would backfire...don't they?
What wimp Pelosi and Conyers are! Their base, people like the DUmmies, have waited six years for this moment, and they're now going to deprive their base of it? If Tuesday showed anythign, it's that you can't win by peeing off your base.
I just tried to call Conyers's office to ask about this. His mailbox is full. My guess is that it's filled with messages from angry lefties saying "We've waited six years for this moment. Don't you dare tak impeachment away from us, or we'll make you pay."
Knowing that the Democrats are caught between a base that desperately wants impeachment,m immediate withdrawal, and a few other crazy things, and a moderate voter group that got them their majority, some Republican member should introduce them, put them in the hooper, and make the Democrats take a position one way or the other.
Several of the DUmmies want to impeach Cheney first.
I'm totally lost by your response. I don't mean this in a defensive way but sorry, its a non-sequitur.
I was making the point that the "stage is getting set for some hand to hand combat within the Democratic party. The Dems are not going to be one big happy familiy." You may or may not agree with my post, and that's fine.
However, that issue really has nothing whatsoever to do with one party dominating the other or even with checks and balances. I appreciate your points but they don't relate at all to mine. Were you mistakenly responding to some other poster?
It will make me feel better to scream. I should clarify myself. Make phone calls, send emails, it can't hurt. We have a great radio talk show host in Atlanta named Kimmer. He sent the tape of Lewis, Franklin and Young to news outlets. Get him started yelling and people stand up and take notice. I know the scumbags will try with the help of the drive-by media.
No Party coming into Power will be able to institute a radical agenda for long.
The Democrats who were elected are going to be pressured by their Left wing to enact certain policies, but the reality of politics will block their efforts.
Even having a Peolsi and Reid in positions of power will not alter that fact.
So, many of the fears expressed on these threads what the Democrats will do are really not justified.
Their Party will divide, espically since they are without a President to lead the Party, as they had with Clinton.
Here is the "one-two punch" on democrat rep John Conyers Jr!

I've read 50 posts and all missed the mark of understanding.
Impeachment would not accomplish the objective as well as Congressional Oversight.
The individual committe heads can all harass constantly government wide and cause more damage than impeachment proceedings.
The objective is to prove the whole government is defective and in need of overhaul
I'm waiting to see the offensive action from the White House. They have a Supreme Court ruling in their pocket that allows them to enter the Capital and get stuff. The senate majority can disappear with two or three indictments.
A Senator indicted for treason will have to resign.
I agree... and I posted about coming indictments in another thread this morning. I'm glad I am not the only one paying close attention!
LLS
which thread?
Thanks, I'm with you now. Believe we both agree that serious internal friction is going to erupt when they start squabbling over the agenda. After all, the devil is always in the details. There clearly are two factions and the stage is set for this to happen. Dems are nothing if not emotion-driven creatures. They are going to clash and divide.
I think many on these threads are overestimating the Democrats.
They are good at getting elected, but leading and legislating is something else.
Clinton has no meaningful legislation to speak of that he can claim credit for.
I would not be surprised if Pelosi and Reid lock horns.
I am sure Pelosi is not happy with Reid putting Liberman as head of Homeland defense, which runs counter to her intention of keeping hawkish Democrats from leadership positions.
Liberman will be on our side on Defense issues.
No impeachment, just two years of partisan harrassment top to bottom with full cooperation from the "Press." Don't discount the possiblity of international trials, not of terrorists who beheaded our troops & strung them up from a bridge, but of Donald Rumsfield and VP Cheney.
The RATS, America's domestic enemies may say that they have no choice but to hand over President Bush after his term is expired because it is the "will of the world". We may be hearing that term a lot folks...
If they try to impeach Bush and/or Cheney; I think it would be appropriate to put the Clintons behind bars. They need to be anyway.
I think if they try to impeach one of them, it's time to take to the streets.
