Charlie Rangel: "Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" (..Said the Man From Harlem!!)
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006337.htm ^

Posted on 11/09/2006 12:43:12 PM PST by WBL 1952

Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)

“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.

To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

Try both of those at the Beau Rivage Casino, Biloxi... you will be surprised! Emeril Lagasse also has a restaurant opening soon on the coast.

I was born and bred in Natchez, MS. When you get to Mississippi and realize how wonderful that great state is, just keep it a secret. We want to keep the MSM away! Shhh!

Come on down! Y'all will love it!

Oh, we're planning just that! Most members of our families are there.

I enjoy and prefer regional foods when traveling. I can get Thai or Indian or sushi at home in NYC. I can't get chicken fried steak or gumbo prepared the right way.

Weirdly, I once knew a guy who only ate at McDonalds when traveling. I never did find out what that was about.

Just like there is something wrong about a "Black Man on a Motor Cycle"?

Your statement is just as racist as what I just posted!

Wonder how James Earl Jones would feel about Congressman Rangel's comment?

Weirdly, I once knew a guy who only ate at McDonalds when traveling.

A friend and I used to jestingly refer to that as 'Scottish cuisine'.

Enough now with the Japanese and Thai food talk, y'all are making me hungry!

As an aside- while driving back from a client site in DC, I spotted a Thai place named 'Thai-tanic'.

Look, I just prefer regional foods, okay? It's one of the pleasures of this country to go into a diner/cafe and eat a slice of pie that is unique to the region.

If I want Thai food or sushi I can pick up the phone now and order as much as I want. I can't pick up the phone and order chicken fried steak or a peach cobbler pie like they make in Georgia.

> I didn't say it didn't exist, I just said there was something "wrong about it." <

In other words, you obviously think it's "wrong" for us Mississippians to eat genuine sushi? And to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine?

Or maybe we're just too stoopidd to know that when you pour white gravy on 'em, they don't taste right?

Thanks, Buster, but that ole dog of yours don't hunt.

You just HAD to go and mention peach cobbler, didn't you.

I am salivating furiously now.

Can we say it? Yes, but don't let a Republican leader say it. MSM water carriers would be right on it, demanding resignation, you know. . now giddy with their imagined "power to tell the people what to think".

Is this where I get to make a joke about catfish sushi?

I can't believe you are defensive about asian food in the south.

we have some mighty big hills. See from Natchez to Brookhaven, and near McComb amd Magnolia

Don't forget the Merdian area! They may not be big ... but those steep hills and valleys around there will do a hunter in!

To open the first drive-thru abortion clinic

Yeah, that's all physicians do. </sarc>

But in between abortions, perhaps she could take a look at that knee of yours...you know, it seems to jerk uncontrollably. And since she's a psychiatrist, perhaps help you with that paranoia problem...

Wasn't there another plant that was trying to open near Jackson that got run off by the idiots running Jackson politicians?

I can accept that. We always "can't get what we want" (Stones?).

But you know what? No matter where I live I can cook. I can make a great "chicken fried steak" (with white gravy that goes great on biscuits also) and a peach cobbler.

In other words, northern black politicians hate southern blacks and want to take federal funds from the southern poor who work for a living and redirect it at inner city northern gang friendly agendas.
