Charlie Rangel: "Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" (..Said the Man From Harlem!!)
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006337.htm ^

Posted on 11/09/2006 12:43:12 PM PST by WBL 1952

Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)

“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.

To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

I know that, of course. But wouldn't it be nice if the American people actually knew the TRUTH about these creeps?

In a perfect world, Mo............in a perfect world. :)

If I could cheap fertile land to have a hobby farm, I'd live there. Otherwise, I'd also live in Harlem too if I was a professional working in the city. Rangel is an ignorant FOOL though. I like where I live now even if I stomp on a skunk carcass while jogging.

I view Mississippi as the future.

-----------------------------------

Then your future looks mighty bleak.

According to federal figures Mississippi receives $1.77 from the US taxpayer for every dollar it pays in.

New York receives $0.79 for every dollar collected.

We are subsidizing the great state of Mississippi as if it were a third world country. Cut off the 40% federal welfare hand out to the great state of Mississippi and what do you think would happen?

It's a radical idea that's been knocking around for a couple of years called Tax Parity or simply Parity. Cocktail party conversation mostly. Basically it says a state can get very little beyond what it sends to DC from DC.

Places like Miss. and Alabama get a ton more money from DC than they send there by way of federal taxes. NY gets something like 80 cents back for every dollar it sends and CT gets even less.

Without the Fed money flowing into Miss. and Alabama the states would be forced to raise taxes to an extraordinary degree -- almost double. Meanwhile, if places like NY and CT didn't have to support those places their tax burden would decrease significantly.

Many rural communities are already losing their best and brightest to the military, out of state colleges and big cities. This would be a signicant nail in the coffin for many towns.

That Exxon picture is a fake. There is a website you can go to and put anything on it. Also, look into the background. That appears to be a mountain. There are no mountains in Mississippi, at least the last time I was there. :-)

WE do Mr. Rangel, and we can't get out of Massachusetts fast enough!

Frankly, I'd like to hear what the Democrat legislators from MS have to say to Mr. Rangel about his snide comments, especially his fellow black Congressman, Bennie Thompson.

I seem to remember New York getting about $20 billion in standalone funding to compensate for 9/11 and there were quite a few people from the Deep South who went there as firefighters, rescue people and even to clean apartments of dust and debris from the Trade Center.

...which we promptly wasted on things that had nothing directly to do with the cleanup or getting Lower Manhattan back on its feet, like rebuilding the subway station at South Ferry a mile away. And then, we whine that we're not getting our fair share of federal money.

Newsflash to Charlie Rangel and the New York Democrat Congressional delegation: we don't get back what we pay in federal taxes because you always try to raise taxes on the so-called rich - those making over $100,000 a year. Heck, under Bloomberg's new teacher contract, some NYC teachers will be earning over $100,000. There are probably more so-called rich New York City residents than Mississippi residents. Why? Well for one, the cost of living here is higher than in Mississippi, and $100,000 doesn't go all that far here. Stop hiking (or as the Democrats like to call it "rolling back") taxes on the so-called rich, and New York will get back more of its fair share in taxes.

Why New Yorkers continue to elect these idiots is beyond me. I apologize to all Mississippians on behalf of all New Yorkers. I know HE won't apologize.

"Yet it's the Dem Senators from LA that continue to demand a $100B in federal handouts?"

FYI - Louisiana has only ONE Dem Senator.

I've driven through there. Very friendly folk.

We're fixing to move back home to MS after 30 years away. We're hoping to be there by next Spring, and you're welcome to come visit us any time you're near the Gulf Coast!!

The problem is, Charlie Wrangle has been showing his a$$ ever since before he was elected to the US House of Representatives.

As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he will continue to do so, receiving much publicity in the process (not, however in the drive by media -- can't have that, dontchaknow!) and, hopefully, his public pronouncements will be most embarrassing and lead to a change in 2008.

"Natchez Trace Parkway several times during the fall leaf season"
Just spent three hours raking up those leaves in my yards, in my nice safe beautiful Mississippi neighborhood, where the only crime we have, we take care of instantly ( see Natchez robbery gone bad for perp, earlier this week). Now, if it just wasn't for those leaves you were extolling.....

We get nowhere near our fare share of federal money.

The reason Bloomberg went for the teacher raise was to keep the teachers from getting poached by places like Scarsdale after we poach them from places like Dallas.
The typical story goes like this: teacher with an advanced degree moves from Dallas to NYC for a $20,000 pay increase. Spends five years in the system and then takes off to Westchester for another $30,000 increase.

No, this jerk has a free pass to say whatever he wishes.

It is the ultimate racist attitude by the press, et al, that he is allowed to talk that way, or call the vice president a son-of-a-bitch, because the media expect blacks to talk that way.

This is why my husband and I are going out looking to arm ourselves this weekend.

LOL!! SirKit just suggested the same thing; especially since MA just elected a Democrat Gov. who is truly a Socialist. We may not be able to get one after he takes office in Jan, and it looks like we may not be able to get out of here before Spring, so we're thinking we many to get them NOW!

There is a Gun Club in our town at which you can rent guns without a license to shoot at their range. We can try out several different models to see what suits us each individually.
