They enjoy enough of one to get chairman positions filled--and that means that they control the flow of appropriations in the House.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - a lot of Democrats won on false pretences of conservatism. Bush should up the ante - make them prove what is more important, the principles that won them victory or the party to which they belong. A good example will be the Patriot Act. I will get great pleasure out of seeing the likes of Jon Tester squirm if Bush forces him to choose on that issue.

The eventual result will be that the Democrats will either split or be exposed as moonbats, all.

Glad to hear from another voice of reason. There is no evidence that the Rep's lost because the base stayed home. Libertarians did swing a few key elections, so we will have a Demonrat Senate and no more good court appointments. Thanks a lot, dopeheads. Good on both of you. That's exactly my thinking. We lost the independents. No matter how big our base is, you can't win without them. That doesn't mean pandering to the Rats line. It means winning them over to our point of view. Unfortunately, the MSM aided in portraying Republicans as corrupt, greedy, etc., everything the Democrats wanted them to do. It's been said before, two sets of standards apply to the two parties. As long as the media supports the Rats, everything we Pubs do has to be squeaky clean and above reproach. Which is the way it should be, but it hurts when the same standards don't apply to the other side.

Although I am still basically TPTP, I will respond to your thoughtful post.

Ronald Reagan was the consummate deal maker. He was always willing to take what he could get and go back until he got what he wanted. Many who post on this forum don't know jack about Reagan. Many don't know the potholes he stepped in. The mistakes he made.

I knew what I was getting when I voted for Bush and I can see nothing in his policies that contradict what he ran on. The most important thing he had was his integrity. The Dems have hammered on that public perception for six years. Finally it stuck. I cannot remember very many Republicans coming forward to defend his honor. He was too much of a (whatever) to do it himself. Shame on the Republicans on TV, the Republicans in Congress. They basically have stood by for six years while a good man was dragged through the mud.

We should debate policy vigorously, but the way the Pubbies have sat back and allowed out CIC to be called every vile name in the book is worse than just wrong.
