The Democrats don't enjoy the huge majorities they did the last time they were able to stab the military in the back.

They enjoy enough of one to get chairman positions filled--and that means that they control the flow of appropriations in the House.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - a lot of Democrats won on false pretences of conservatism. Bush should up the ante - make them prove what is more important, the principles that won them victory or the party to which they belong. A good example will be the Patriot Act. I will get great pleasure out of seeing the likes of Jon Tester squirm if Bush forces him to choose on that issue.

The eventual result will be that the Democrats will either split or be exposed as moonbats, all.

Regards, Ivan

Kristol is gleeful because he is a McCain handmaiden, and believes, along with much of the conventional MSM wisdom, that McCain is now best-positioned to be the GOP nominee for president in 2008.

Take a good look at McCain the next time you see him on TV; he's not going to be running for anything.

Well let me see maybe he is coming out to thank all of the Stay at home Conservatives and or those conservatives that voted for the Dems this time because they fell for the crap hypnosis by the MSM and the LIBS that we needed a new direction in Iraq...

Who is the Rove in the Dem party right now because he is certainly a Magnificant Bastard....

Maybe he is going to thank some of us right here that could have done more but didn't but regardless he is a cordial guy and he will still thank you for your best even though your best just wasn't good enough...

Maybe he is going to tell us that the time for Conservatism only is coming to an end and that Progressive Conservatism is the new way...

The Liberals layed out a perfect plan, created a perfect storm and ran to victory...

"The GOP base voted; so did the RAT base, in roughly equal numbers. We lost the election because we lost the independents, who voted in higher percentages than in 2002, mostly due to Iraq and in some cases local issues, such as corruption. We lost independents 3:2, specifically suburban women and Catholics

Glad to hear from another voice of reason. There is no evidence that the Rep's lost because the base stayed home. Libertarians did swing a few key elections, so we will have a Demonrat Senate and no more good court appointments. Thanks a lot, dopeheads. The rest of the damage was done by the media, who control most of what wishy-washy "independent" sheeple believe.

Good on both of you. That's exactly my thinking. We lost the independents. No matter how big our base is, you can't win without them. That doesn't mean pandering to the Rats line. It means winning them over to our point of view. Unfortunately, the MSM aided in portraying Republicans as corrupt, greedy, etc., everything the Democrats wanted them to do. It's been said before, two sets of standards apply to the two parties. As long as the media supports the Rats, everything we Pubs do has to be squeaky clean and above reproach. Which is the way it should be, but it hurts when the same standards don't apply to the other side.

Although I am still basically TPTP, I will respond to your thoughtful post.

Ronald Reagan was the consummate deal maker. He was always willing to take what he could get and go back until he got what he wanted. Many who post on this forum don't know jack about Reagan. Many don't know the potholes he stepped in. The mistakes he made.

I knew what I was getting when I voted for Bush and I can see nothing in his policies that contradict what he ran on. The most important thing he had was his integrity. The Dems have hammered on that public perception for six years. Finally it stuck. I cannot remember very many Republicans coming forward to defend his honor. He was too much of a (whatever) to do it himself. Shame on the Republicans on TV, the Republicans in Congress. They basically have stood by for six years while a good man was dragged through the mud.

We should debate policy vigorously, but the way the Pubbies have sat back and allowed out CIC to be called every vile name in the book is worse than just wrong.

Stay strong, Mr. President. Remember who supported you. ------

You must be kidding.....say that when you watch tapes of streams of illegals coming across our border with ease....

Gather your firearms and stockpile ammo while you can, looks like we're gonna need it.

They are pushing him so that SHE will win. We here at FR know that we would HAVE to vote for him. In a general election with uninformed America, SHE wins.

I admit that I have zero tolerance for those who stab us in the back.

If zero tolerance for back stabbers is a sign of a grumpy old man, so be it.

My ancestors had zero tolerance for Benedict Arnold and other lovers of the Crown. I guess that I inherited that trait.

You certainly do have a point about the mainstream media. I can't take the constant insults, put-downs and lies they spread about our President. It trickles down to our children and it has a negative impact on the world.

Further more, I know... we have several levels of admiration/love for the president... we know that. The ones who think "he walks on water." (nothing wrong with that!) but I am not one of them...

We who support our President have never claimed he walks on water

But to compare him to of all people .. to Jimmy Carter is waaaaaay over board

People who join a volunteer military, when there are much safer things to do, are not likely to be quitters.

They are not likely to be masochists, either.

Well, he WAS coming out of a cabinet meeting, so I assume that is why the cabinet was there. This is the usual stuff that is done after every election, regardless of who wins, and it's not my fault that Drudge and Fox act like it's a big deal.

All the smart conservatives are bailing from Dallas County and heading to Denton and Collin Counties.
