"America doesn't want to win a war."
Not until oil is $10 a gallon, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are being terrorized into submission, and Israel is threatened with extinction. Chilling prospects.

The important lesson for the Republicans to take away from this is very simple. FIGHT. Don't try to be "less liberal." Run conservatives. Stick to your beliefs.BTTT. Exactly. Quit being ashamed of your principles when they are correct! This, in theory, should make us a leaner, meaner party - it may be the kick in the shorts many needed...

Who voted in this election? Democrats forced out by their party and irritated half-Republicans who were trying to 'teach someone a lesson'.
I'm okay with the results. The Republicans will stop spending and the Democrats will be held to their 'plan'.
We all know that the average US Citizen is not being represented by these election results. These are party shills. They just had a better get-out-the-vote effor this time.
Fair enough, now they'll have to live with the results.
Hold on to your ankles and prepare for your taxes to skyrocket.

and what do you think the democrats are going to do...NOTHING, if you could count you would see that they will be controlled by the yellow dog's, because they will have a slimmer margin than the do nothing pubs. If it takes every demo-rat to have a majority, then each member becomes the boss, the old what do I get for my vote.

Unbelievable how lopsided that race was for a Comptroller that has to keep paying money back that he stole. NY is a dreamland of prancing corporate-hating envirowackos. On the flip side, Reynolds won his race. Not that I am a fan of Reynolds, but Davis' plan to ratchet up tarrifs scares the hell out of me. Smooth-Hawley anyone?

And the Democrats ran as fiscal conservatives. The question is, now that they have the duty to govern, will they act as such, or will they pander to the special interests in their base? The good news is, they can't possibly be worse than the Republicans when it comes to spending.

Actually, the pathetic excuse I heard the Democratic chairman make was "You can't judge a man's 20-year career based on one incident."Actually Ted Bundy only made one mistake in his 20 year career as a serial killer. He let one of the girls get away.

Yup. And the war in Iraq will turn around overnight once the Democrats are in power. This is all about getting elected. Even the Dems know it's too important to throw Iraq to the wolves.

FReepers, and conservatives in general, have more class. Plus, we're less heavily dependent on medication.

When do the tax cuts expire? I believe in 2010, but don't quote me. Donks are perfectly capable of tinkering with them before they expire, using the old class envy crap they always use.

America can't win a real war any more. Look back at all our victories--they were achieved largely by suspending liberties (tightening control of the press, almost eliminating dissent, interning enemies on a vast scale). The wars after WWII were attempted to be fought will keeping the same liberties as peacetime. The result--stalemates to the point where we just give up.
Also worthy of note is that in the great victories our armed forces only really entered the fray after the other sides bled each other white.

Great. Let's see moonbats Pelosi, Conyers and Rangel work with these Dem newbies. Dummies didn't get what they thought they were getting tonight. Two years.....not one second more. heh.

That's what I'm thinking...
Picture the rats getting so full of themselves over gaining control of the House... In a couple of years the public will (hopefully) have had yet another wake-up call. Realize they f'd up... And in the 08 elections we should look pretty good.
To: Wormwood
The good news is, they can't possibly be worse than the Republicans when it comes to spending. They might actually be better. Not likely, but it is possible.

I think Lieberman's third party win shows that this was less a referendum on the war and more a referendum on a Republican majority, including our president, that was too often content to ignore problems like illegal immigration and out of control spending, while not working hard enough to get our message out about Iraq. I think you're right. If Bush & the Repubs had aggressively attacked the problems of illegal aliens and agressively controlled spending (including substantial tax overhaul of the current IRS debacle), and aggressively countered the Dims AND the media every time they opened their mouths on Iraq, I think the Republicans overwhelmingly would have supported Republican candidates. Instead we have an RNC & Repub Senate & House & President Bush who spent the last 6 years turning to the left to appease the Dims & media who never let up on their unrelenting hatred for Bush & the Republican Party. Well, now we will see what happens over the next two when Bush has to do battle every day against a DimWit Party that is bound & determined to take down this administration. I hope that Bush finally gets his wake-up call and takes his gloves off starting tomorrow.

If the Dems actually control the House, I think the biggest reason for it is the 24/7 MSM assault on Bush and the GOP in which the MSM has willfully distorted the truth about Iraq and especially the WMD issue. Immigration is another issue but that's a tough one because there are a lot of vital foreign policy issues related to Mexico and immigration that Pubs don't seem to understand very well. (Look how that socialist guy almost got elected President of Mexico.)
The Kaye report, when David Kaye went on TV and said "we got it all wrong" on the WMD intelligence, was a major mistake by the Bush Admin. There were chemical weapons and a nuclear weapons program in Iraq and I think the administration played down the chemical weapons and blamed bad intelligence to protect our troops. They gambled that the post-invasion phase would not be too costly and the public would say, "Oh well, we liberated Iraq anyway." That gamble has not worked out well, although it has stopped insurgents from going out looking for chemical weapons.
Now the issue is Iran and if we do have a Democrat House it will be interesting to see if those Dems are willing to defend America against the massive threat from a nuclear-armed Iran. This is a different situation in Iran because their nuclear program is not shrouded in secrecy like Iraq's nuclear program and the Euopeans are solidly on our side. So we'll see if the Dems are willing to defend this nation or whether they try to distort the Iranian threat for political gain. I don't know if this nation will survive until the end of this century in a world filled with fascist regimes seeking nuclear weapons. If we do survive it will only be by the grace of God. The liberal media is so dumb on the issue of nuclear weapons. MSM people should never climb completely into a large paper bag, because they could never think their way out of it.
