I have a friend at church who has seemed a little distant for a couple of months. Last week he approached my brother and I with a DVD he wanted us to see. It is the WTC conspiracy. He has fallen for it and thinks that Bush and the Jews brought down the towers. This is a guy that
I feel very bad for him. Honestly, a couple of months ago he was a very normal guy, now he seems like a paranoid schizophrenic. He may be too far gone but he has sucked his five sons into this delusion, one of them a decorated Iraq vetaran.
Does anyone have access to a MP4 video that refutes this nonsense that I can burn to a DVD and give him. Or is there a commercial video I can purchase? I don't know if he will watch it but I hope to give his boys the other side.
He is beyond discussion, when cornered, he thinks than Bin Laden was in on the plot with Bush and the Jews. I have not watched his video, I don't need the frustration.
He is trying to pass this video around to church members so they know who to vote for.
If you have info to email see below.
I appologize if this seems off topic but I am looking for help.
dangrdocatyahoodotcom.
Thanks.
Sounds like the best thing you could do for him would be to point and laugh whenever he walks by. You just can't reason with some people.

This is a good site to debunk these conspiracies. You can also order the book.
I was very concerned when women on my homeschool list started talking about this 'conspiracy.' I sent this to them but I am not sure that it changed their minds. They haven't posted any thing more about it.
There may be something physically wrong with him. A developing brain tumor?
The one I use is as follows:
If Bush and Cheney conspired to create 911 you have to agree it would take hundreds of complicit people both in an outside of the Government and Airline industry. It would be hailed as the greatest conspiracy in history right?
Now ask yourself how can an Administration smart enough to pull off this unprecedented conspiracy fail to pull off a much much smaller conspiracy that would have them hailed as heros of the Free World....
Ok now that I have your attention. Wouldn't it have been so very simple to send a small cadre of special (Men in Black) or whatever you want to call them into the empty... Repeat vast... empty desert of Iraq to bury some ahem U.S. Government obtained Chemical or Biological weapons to be uncovered in front of the media and hailed as a triumph and vindication for bringing down Saddam?
They never have a response. Then if they still don't give in I usually say. in my best robot voice.. OK... You Have ncovered the Truth.... Now you are marked for obliteration.. Our leader has spoken... nah.. nah... nah..
you get the picture..
Popular Mechanics had a cover story debunking this.

My suggestion is that you find a book that talks about how the moon landing was a hoax and give it to him as a gift.
Then find a book that claims that the Holocaust was a hoax, and give it to him.
By the time you get down to the Roswell conspiracy, he'll begin to realize that there are a lot of nuts in the world, and he's one of them.
The only problem is that he'll think you're one too.
Have him watch the South Park Episode on 9/11 conspiracy nuts.
"a couple of months ago he was a very normal guy, now he seems like a paranoid schizophrenic"
If this seems like a sudden change, the best thing you could do is suggest he see a doctor. He may have developed a medical condition that would cause such a sudden change in mood.
If your friend returns to sanity, and uses his brain as a brain instead of as a second heart, he'll be OK. If not, there is nothing you can do about it. Except, in this case, pray, which would be an appropriate response, don't you think?
Listen, as harsh as it may sounds, just drop him from your life. People like this don't want to know the truth...their very identity is tied up in their paranoia. He doesn't want tot know the truth, he finds some sort of comfort in thinking that the world couldn't possibly be changed by a few men. They need to think only lots of people could make that happen. It's the same psychology as the Kennedy Conspiracy nuts. It's hard to believe one lone man can change the course of history. But he can.
Here's a link to a very enjoyable Penn & Teller debunking of 9/11 theories and their crazy theorists. Strong language, but gets the point across very nicely and occasionally with laugh-out-loud humor:

Popular Mechanics magazine did a cover story debunking the WTC conspiracy theories.
"Debunking The 9/11 Myths - Mar. 2005 Cover Story
PM examines the evidence and consults the experts to refute the most persistent conspiracy theories of September 11."

If this man and his sons are not yet beyond help, this may help. If they reject it, they are already too far gone.
You might want to consider giving a copy of this to the people he's distributed his CDs to.
10 14 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.
11 12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue.
