MSNBC's Chris Matthews invited the Dixie Chick on last night's Hardball to promote the new documentary Shut Up and Sing and asked them if they felt their anti-Iraq position has been vindicated, to which the Chicks responded with martyred terms of being put on Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."
The following exchange occurred on the October 26th edition of Hardball:
Chris Matthews: "Martie, I get the feeling at the time that you folks, when you made that statement and you all stood behind it and took the heat for it, that the country world out there and country music was definitely for the war. I mean, I think of Toby Keith singing that song, Remember How You Felt' which is basically a pitch that if you didn't like 9/11 you had to like Iraq, that they were basically lining up and saying this was a smart thing for the U.S. to do. It turns out most Americans all over the country think it's not a smart thing that we did."

He never did any of the things they claimed and they didn't kill him and hide the body.
Nats mistook him for a ham sandwich and ate him.

Okay! Who called the radio stations and ordered them to stop playing the chicken's music?
Apparently we're on the List of Those Who Don't Get The List. LOL
Nah, you're a potted plant.
Remember Ollie North's attorney at the Iran-Contra Senate Hearings complaining that he was there to help Ollie and wasn't a potted plant?
I haven't gotten any of the hate lists or marching orders or anythiing, so I'm a potted plant too.
you beat me to it - i love toby keith i don't know that i've ever heard that song.....i guess the huge country music fan chrissy (with tongue firmly in cheek) must have it on a cd somethere....not!
Just imagine how the chicks will be the "Sick Chicks" if the dems win in Nov. The thought makes me shudder. OHHH, I need another drink!

****
That's nonsense too. Some stations quit playing maybe for a minute or two, then started up again. And of course, the Chicks still have an audience on MTV or VH1.
Fact of the matter is that far too few people are all that interested in seeing/hearing them anymore. The audience left them on their own...they didn't need anyone to tell them to do that.
Crissy/Olberman grab like an extra 50,000-100,000 viewers down the stretch of election season, but their avg is like 300-500K viewers, as opposed to 2 million + for the top shows (OReilly, Larry King, H/C)
This is giving FR lots of great face time... ;o)
that was what i figured but could understand how chrissy could turn "Where Were You" into "Remember How You Felt" - too funny!
darn!... still don't know my way around here... where is the hate list? :)
Wonder if Keith Urban will recover from his latest rehab.
And where is Shania?
Actually I called one and told them that if they played one more Dixie Chicks song I was going to their competitor who had already yanked them. I never heard another one of their songs on that station again.
I know! I guess it's pretty safe to say Chris is not a country fan. :-D
The Ditzie Chicks have been whining for days now, First on Opra, now this, in the media, WAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAA!
Fattie Natie, we get it. You hate America, we hate traitors.
I remember right after it happened Charlie Robison did everything he could to distance the sisters from Natalie and then the next thing you know, they jumped right into the middile of the whole brouhaha....I'm surprised he's still married to the little twit!
