MSNBC's Chris Matthews invited the Dixie Chick on last night's Hardball to promote the new documentary Shut Up and Sing and asked them if they felt their anti-Iraq position has been vindicated, to which the Chicks responded with martyred terms of being put on Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."
The following exchange occurred on the October 26th edition of Hardball:
Chris Matthews: "Martie, I get the feeling at the time that you folks, when you made that statement and you all stood behind it and took the heat for it, that the country world out there and country music was definitely for the war. I mean, I think of Toby Keith singing that song, Remember How You Felt' which is basically a pitch that if you didn't like 9/11 you had to like Iraq, that they were basically lining up and saying this was a smart thing for the U.S. to do. It turns out most Americans all over the country think it's not a smart thing that we did."

How many years have they been whining? This is so characeristic of children,
***
Children don't whine as much.
Did Matthews really say "demise"?
Bah, I just looked for Drudge's weekly cable news ratings - couldn't find them. But MSNBC's shows are abyssmal - Mathews and Olbermann often switch top positions for the top MSNBC shows.
I think Nancy Grace beats them.
I didn't notice, but if they aren't happy with Ms. Maines, why do they keep appearing with her to show their support?
Nah, I think the other two are in lockstep with the loudmouth.
The Dixie Cups. Get em some string.
The chicks have destroyed theirselves. They can say what they want , but it doesn't mean anyone has to listen or respect what they say. All the whining in the world can't fix what they have broken TOO SAD! TOO BAD ! Maybe they can make a song out of that that nobody wants to buy!
Which "most Americans" is this windbag referring to? I would beg to differ with his comment as I don't place much faith in those "polls" that he is probably using to support such BS.
We took down the Dixie Chicks after we went after Hardball and made Hardball irrelevant.
" They have a hate list. They have a black, they have a list, and we were number one."
Sounds like ManManes is upset that Free Republic has black posters.
Who has the list today ?
I missed the marching order meeting...
One of the conservative babes went on Chris's show. As far as I can remember, they cut her short after Chris was unable
to lie about and counter her facts. She either had her book or another with an account of the topic. Chris sends
one of his minions to steal her copy of the book so he could rebut after the fact, but it did him no good.
Nope, don't have one, but if we ever start a stupid list, they are #1.
Okay, I've been a FReeper since 6/17/06, and I've yet to see the "hate" list or "black" list that these Ditsy Chicks are suppose to be on. What's a guy gotta do to earn the right to see those all important lists?
I couldn't afford the TV's.
Whoops, gotta run, don't want to be late for my anger management class... :)
Like so many Dem pundits, he doesn't research, he just makes it up as he goes. That's why he didn't call the Three Stooges on their baloney about their fall from grace from their fans, and about FR -- he simply doesn't care about the truth. And he'll continue to ignore it.
Chris wants that boot from Toby....
That's exactly what I thought, too.
And they could have been big for decades. The Chicks were bigger than Faith and Shania, bigger than Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban (now).
Maybe they'll sue FR for the lost hundreds of millions of dollars they would have gotten over the next 20 years.
