Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Until such time as the party machine at the local, state and national levels learns to keep their grubby mits off the primary, the general must be fair game. We will do what we have to do even if it's in the general.

Fine, then will you reimburse me for the thousands of dollars I will pay in increased taxes?

I'd prefer they think for themselves and do what's best for the conservative cause.

You've made it quite plain that you don't think what's good for the GOP is necessarily good for the "conservative cause."

I for one don't think the Ds could help themselves, the moonbats have too great an influence.

On that we agree, but not for the same reasons I am sure; I believe the first thing they will go after is the Electoral College and then your "plan" for 2008 goes right down the drain.

"not the least of which was the Senate Race in 2004."

You had a real primary. with real primary voters and all. get over it! Toomey got over it long ago and has endorsed Santorum, like every conservative across the country.

The Leftists are *dying* to see Santorum lose. It would make the leftists so happy to see the social conservative light dim with the loss of key conservative santorum.
"There is probably no one the left would rather see defeated this November than Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

The two-term Republican is a reliable ally of President Bush on matters from Iraq to confirming judges. He is a religious conservative who has spoken out against abortions, gay unions and contraception. He is a liaison to the business community and a consistent vote against environmental regulation. ...
"No one is further to the right in the Senate than Rick Santorum,'' said Ralph Neas, president of the liberal advocacy group People for the American Way. ... "Gays would be thrilled and overjoyed'' at a Santorum loss ... "

The Democrat party, particularly in the state of PA, is filthy, rotten, putrid to the core.

What are you doing to clean *that* up?

Either you want Ted Kennedy and Pelosi to run the Congress next year, or you are against it. .. Staying home or not voting Republican is a great way to cede control of USA to the left.

How about YOU improve it by getting active before the primaries? Don't say it don't work, it does. The problem is that you wont work hard enough to make change.

Wrong. I have worked hard in primaries here only to get bulldozed by the Republican Party! THEY are the ones that eat their own! I am sick of the "do it in the primaries" when they won't let us have one.

So spare me the "TAKE OUT RINOS IN THE PRIMARIES!" BS.

Just because WI voters aren't smart enough to nominate someone better?

Oklahoma as example: Tom Coburn got ZERO support from RNC (either state or national) yet beat both moderate "good ole boys" and toasted the Gephardt clone DUmocrat who ran against him.

For Howlin, who says:

Oh, gawd, stop that; you look like a fool posting stuff like that. When you say crap like that, nobody even bothers to read your follow on posts!

Really!?

Let me refer you back to your own posting #168 in this thread:

So do you Brown Shirts.

Evidently you are not aware of the historical significance of that slander, or of the posting rule that states:

----NO personal attacks----

You need to learn the rules of thoughtful debate and lay off the increasingly vitriolic personal attacks.

I have worked hard in primaries here only to get bulldozed by the Republican Party!

Why can't you just face the fact that your canidate/view didn't poll enough people who agree with you?

You had a primary; your cause lost; now either get with the program or get out of the way so we can do what needs to be done.

"but if some conservatives stay home I really can't blame them."

I can. I don't support the party 100% on all issues, but I've given money to the RNC this election cycle and will vote.

If people don't understand how critical it is to defeat the global jihad, and if they want to go back to the stagflation days of the 1970s, yes, they will bear the brunt of the blame.

Consider this. If the conservative base is no longer reliable, we will have to make an effort to bring new people into the party with the minimal amount of compromise necessary. That's political reality, and that means a moderate candidate to defeat Hilary.

The spankers need to think clearly about what they're doing. Supporting people like Ralph Nader and Ross Perot never gets issue advocates anywhere-- you need bodies in offices from your own party if you want to protest and get an Alito.

We will have no such leverage with Ms. Clinton.

If some conservatives stay home, yes, I can really blame them. And I will.

Hmmmm....

I have three things to say:

1) War on Terror

2) Judiciary

3) Taxes

Refusing to vote would be the height of stupidity for the above reasons, IMHO.

If you must clean house, do it in the primaries; if you have tried to do it once before, like we did with Toomey, and it didn't work

Like I said. Conservatives try to work within the primary process but the NRCC and NRSC comes to the aid of the RINO and then expect conservatives to support the RINO in the general. There's a huge double-standard here.

I'll be supporting my Republican candidates, but if turnout is going to be less than usual I'm not going to be surprised. Conservatives are hungry, they're angry, and if Republicans don't deliver before 2008 in seriously cutting spending, letting the troops fight the WOT without the liberal media/politicians handcuffing them, and reforming the tax system, Republicans won't have a chance of winning anything in 2008.

So do you; to continually insinuate that people who don't agree with you word for word aren't "true" conservatives is just as big a slander.

Like I said, you people lost in the primaries; live with it and stop soiling the nest.

Then when this election is done in Nov 7th, start on the 8th and lets start picking people to take over the GOP here in PA....

If the GOP in Washington D.C., then we will have to raise money here in PA. with all of us working to do it....

If we want something really bad, we can do it....

Right now we need to support Santorum and VOTE REPUBLICAN!

"Here is all you need to know about that:

She thinks Rick Santorum is a RINO."

Santorum, the man the Democrats bash as a right-wing extremist, is not right-wing extremist enough for some folks.

So she claims, but as I am a former Toomey supporter and current strong Santorum supporter (even though I live in Texas, I really want the conservatives to win in PA) and challenged her and others and a few other disgruntled ones on their Santorum-basing, she (and they) collapsed under the weight of illogic.

They have no real objection to Santorum that will get cured by having Santorum fall to Casey.

I am sick to death of these moronic circular-firing-squad type maochists, who want to inflict leftwing socialism on America as a 'punishment' for the inevitable imperfections of human politicians.

I truly believe that 'Conservative Goddess' is in fact neither, and that these santorum-bashers are either trolls themselves or the most immature and naive set of extremists you can imagine.

Sort of like Pat's doing right now, huh?

Well, I disagree with Pat today, except on the borders.

But in 1992 he really was ahead of his time. He received zero support from the party establishment and conservatives who supported him were depicted as wild-eyed religious wackos. His treatment in 1992 may explain his hatred of the GOP now, IMO.
