How to save youtube videos (and upload them elsewhere)
After David Zucker's political ad was flagged on youtube.com, some of you asked how to download youtube videos to watch elsewhere. These are instructions for doing so. If you know an easier or more direct method, please post.
1) Copy the url from the youtube page. (I searched for freerepublic to find a worthy sample)
2) Go to http://keepvid.com and paste the youtube url in the space provided
3) Save file by clicking download (part A), then clicking "download link" (part B). Save it
as an .flv extension
4) Download cinemaforge (It's free software you can find online) or similar software.
5) With cinemaforge, convert .flv file to something playable for video sharing websites (wmv, mpeg, etc)
6) Click encode. Your new video is now the proper format for video sharing sites.
7) Upload to another website. (zippyvideos, tinypic, mediamax)
Again, Google bought You Tube and thus is the reason for the censorship. You will see many vidoes on You Tube with conservative opinions and that bash leftists start to get this kind of attention.
Basically, don't go to You Tube except to pilfer the stuff you like and post it somewhere else.
Thanks CK.
That's scary. I never realized how inept some of our military branches were with secrets.
It's weird that this was posted so recently, because I just bookmarked this very helpful video tutorial covering the same ground:

I dont recall them off the top of my head, but they are out there. THere is nothing special about a mac that prevents it from being suceptible to a virus. It's a complete myth that macintoshes are immune from viruses.
You forget that most DNS servers are far more secure than your average machine and those users who maintain it aren't dumb like your average computer user who would get that virus.

Excellent post! Thanks.
The inability of people to properelly classify malware does not mean mac is susiptable to viruses.
The first is a worm, not a virus.
The Second is a Trojan, not a virus.

If you're comfortable with that, that's fine by me. I see no proof that this falls under any Fair Use provision, if we're talking about copyrighted material, and it looks like there's an interested party who disagrees with you.

I think they'll work out a deal, but until then, I think that a lot of YouTube users are uploading, viewing, and downloading, content without the authorization of the copyright holders. That is to say, they're watching a lot more music videos than homemade stupid pet tricks (I'd be happy to be wrong about that, so if someone knows the opposite to be true, feel free to correct me). And now it's become possible to download the stuff easily.
Which is something I've seen Freepers denounce as theft.
Thank you.
Prayers sent !!!!
Thank you!
Bookmarked; thank you very much.
