Latest FNC "expert" said the plane may have stalled and the leveling off is taught to pilots but in NYC this happens .......

Helicopter crashes into UES building

It's happening at 524 E. 72nd Street and York Ave.

(New York - WABC, October 11, 2006) - The FDNY has confirmed that a helicopter flying in an exclusion airspace crashed into an Upper East Side building Wednesday afternoon.

Several windows of an apartment were blown out in an apartment building at the Belaire building on 524 East 72nd Street, between York and East End Avenue.

Eyewitness News' Shannon Sohn was in Newscopter 7, watching the raging fire that sent a pillar of black smoke over the city. There was no immediate word on any deaths or injuries.

The Belaire is a high rise building near the Hospital for Special Surgery. A fire was reported on the 41st floor after the crash. FDNY crews are on the scene working to put the blaze out.

The New York City Red Cross said it is mobilizing and heading to the scene.

The incident's affecting traffic: The MTA says bus service in the area will experience reroutes and delays.

Bernie Karik on Fox now. Says police will go to level 3 which brings police in from the outlying areas. They will remain on high alert until they are convinced this isn't terrorism. Says they will assume they will lose everything above the strike zone and concern will be to get people out who are trapped.

It doesn't even sound as big as a commuter plane. Sounds like a private general aviation plane. If it was bigger, we'd have a larger explosion. So far, let's just hope the fire fighters can get in there.

LOL: Nope they're back to it being a "small fixed wing plane" which was told to them by FAA... witnesses described either a helicopter or they don't know.
