On Fox they're saying that plane has a built in parachute system. Not for the pilot, for the PLANE! Whatever it had, it didn't work. I hope it was quick for him.

You played against Thurman? When?
Thurman is one of my all-time favorites.
I was at Yankee Stadium in July of that year and a friend and I decided we wanted to go to one more game that season. We pulled out the schedule and picked August 3. (August 2 was an off day.) It turned out to be the memorial game. Boy, what an occasion.
When Thurman's picture came on the scoreboard, there was such a long, loud ovation that I thought the Stadium would fall down. Seriously.
The only other time I thought it migh tcome down was Mickey Mantle Day.

Mayor Bloomberg on now. Plane took off at 2:29. Circled the Statue of Liberty, came up the east river. Radar lost contact about the time it went above the 59th Street Bridge. 2 on board. Both dead. Plane Hit 40/41 floor (30/31 floor from the street) of building at around 2:42 (or 4 - I don't remember which) PM. Fire fully out. Not releasing names of two people on board until notify next of kin. No evidence 4 people on board.
Building is being reoccupied, except for people on those two floors.

Yes, really. He was our high school's "basketball" star. He also played varsity baseball.

Not for the pilot, for the PLANE! If it's for the plane, then it's also for the pilot, by default.

Former NTSB director Jim Hall said in a telephone interview he doesn't understand how a plane could get so close to a New York City building after Sept. 11. ......... "We're under a high alert and you would assume that if something like this happened, people would have known about it before it occurred, not after," Hall said. Hall is a "questionable character".

You consider being called over-sensitive to be a personal attack?
Wow, does that mean you are not over-sensitive?
To answer your question about Guns, I have concealed carry permits in 3 states, so what do you think?
Deitl didnt attack GA, he attacked regulations. I stand by what I said. The GA community is over-sensitive IMHO, and should be doing more on their own to weed out poor aviators.

One passenger was a flight instructor; another was a student pilot - Bloomberg.

What? Hard to understand your post. And I never said it was meaningful, and I said I thought it was an accident all along because of the small size of the plane and the building hit. I just thought it was ironic todays date compared to 9-11 when rotated. I never said it was meaningful, just eerie and ironic. Sheesh.

Nothing to suggest anything remotely involved with terrorism - Bloomberg.

Gotta wonder if there's an amatuer photographer who's selling the video as we type.

One passenger was a flight instructor; another was a student pilot - Bloomberg. My husband is a pilot. I bless everything he wants to do in aviation, with the exception of getting his CFI and teaching in small planes.
Not that I'd stop him, but I'd definitely make my misgivings known.

They say the plane had an ejector seat! LOL, no small GA plane has an ejector seat.
But, the Cirrus, if this was a Cirrus has a deployable parachute. The picture they were showing earlier wasn't a Cirrus it looked more like a Cessna.
To: Pukin Dog
What you described is just what my son told me a little while ago....about a relatively inexperienced pilot maybe making some newbie mistakes.

But per post 1539 (no source given): "Pilot found on ground strapped to his seat, along with another passenger. They are still looking for a third passenger."
A previous report on this thread, sourced from a phone call to the poster from a friend at the scene, was that there were 2 burned corpses on the ground. Official reports were also saying at least 2 dead right from the start (though not specifying whether from the plane and/or building).
To: Pukin Dog
GA community doesn't need any more regulations. Period.
Accidents happen unfortunately.

Nothing to suggest anything remotely involved with terrorism - Bloomberg. Lots of suggestions of that on FreeRepublic, Bloomberg needs to check here before speaking.
