I didn't like the Yankees back then, and I was very young, but I recall when Thurman Munson died. Even then I knew the guy was an old-fashioned nose-to-the-grindstone kind of player. He was a catcher for Kent State in college back in the mid 60's. I played for another team (I'd mention it here, but I don't want Hillary to know who I am). ;-)
Anyhow, Thurmon was a real chatterbox behind the plate that day. He never shut up. But I had a good day that day with a single, double and triple in four at bats.
But he was catching with a fractured thumb, and later in the game ............. he smoked a line drive over the center field fence. The guy hit the ball about 435 feet with a broken thumb! Yoi!
He and I and a bunch of other guys had a few beers after the game. He was a solid guy!

I read your post as saying "restricted", so my error. I'm in total agreement with your explanation.

'The plane left New Jersey's Teterboro Airport, just across the Hudson River from the city, at 2:30 p.m., about 15 minutes before the crash, according to officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport. But they said they did not where the aircraft was headed.'
My company has a maintenance facility at Teterboro, hate to sound selfish, but I hope we didn't work on it.

Didn't know that and I was flying at that time!

As usual, you GA pilots are over-sensitive to critique. I know, I know, most of you are fine pilots. Okay? But the fact remains, that there is a segment of GA that is randomly STUPID, hurting things for the rest of you.

from CNN email:
-- Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle was the sole person aboard the plane that crashed into a high-rise apartment building in New York, FBI officials say.

Now that it's known this is an accident with a small plane, flown by a NY Yankees pitcher, all the panicking Nancy's can calm down. From the start it looked like an accident given the apparent small size of the craft and the building that was hit.

Who is Lidle closest with on the team? Could be another 1-2 players on board.
He was recently traded to the Yankees with Bobby Abreu. It's possible other players were on board. It's also possible it was his family - he has a wife and one child.

I went to school with Graig... he was 2 years ahead of me.

Oh very funny. :) It is ironic that this accident would take place today, and when the date is rotated it is 9-11-01.

Dad said I went right up to him at a signing table they had with him and Dave Winfield.
