That crap Dietl spouts is the kind of thing that gets airports like Meigs closed and makes it a million times harder on General Aviation pilots to fly anywhere. Maybe we can ban private aircraft for all political campaigns and make 'em all fly Southwest...."Mr Hastert, in accordance with our policies, you'll need to purchase a second seat." :P

No kidding. This guy is such a trip.

I know someone who bought a high floor in that condo a couple of years ago. I hope she and her son were ok.

Darn it! I was just
warming up my theory that
it was just a drone . . .

I was just waiting for this. It took the RATS only 2 hours to get before a microphone.

Nothing further on a person jumping into the river.
I doubt it was a hijacking.

One of the DUmmie posts says that 10/11/06 is 9/11/01 upside down!! These people are nuts! We've already had two FReepers say the same thing.

Speaking of the Tampa incident, I don't recall there being the kind of fireball and intense flames that is being shown on Fox News. Could this small plane have been carrying a lot of extra 'fuel'? Also on Fox, a live witness reported a huge fireball when the plane hit.

I think Charlie's point is that anyone can fly in NYC without filing a flight plan.
To: Miss Marple
BUT, Chalrie Rangel is on now saying why didn't we have planes in the air before the fact? What does he want...PRE-EMPTION? Actually, this is hilarious. Charlie now expects Homeland Security to stop accidents.I heard that too. LOL He's an idiot.

Fox NYC reports two construction worker saw plane trying to avoid hitting the building and make it to the river (it was flying west to east).
My latest opinion: tragic accident.
Yeah, apparently the pilot sent a distress call about fuel (I cannot imagine what went through his mind if he ran out of fuel for some reason over a city as large as NYC - Central Park would be about it).
When I first heard this, a lady was talking about "terrorists probably did it", and all I could do was shake my head - the fact that people automatically assume that (hopefully most don't at FR, but some do, I know), means the terrorists have people like that scared - that's a mental victory for the terrorists, unfortunately.
My first thought was, given the time of day and the building, it was an accident - a residential building at that time would have few, if any people, as well as it was a fairly small aircraft.
My second thought is, somebody is going to go after General Aviation again, just like they did after 9/11.

Dean Martin, not Sinatra. That was his biggest hit. Oy, ooops! That's really bad. I am out-of-sorts today. (Moving yet again, freeping around the boxes and movers.)

One consideration is that the government may want to have waited to inform family before releasing names on the aircraft.

Charlie Rangel just said it to Neil Cavuto:
"BUSH'S FAULT"
To: A Citizen Reporter
Rangel just blamed the dip in the Dow on Bush's speech on the economy.
To: TexasPatriot8
You missed Charlie Rangel. He was going with the "we aren't prepared for this" even though it is an ACCIDENT.
HE CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO CHAIR A COMMITTEE.
