CNN: PAGE LAWYER DOES NOT RULE 'IN OR OUT' PRANK CLAIM... DEVELOPING... Former congressional page Jordan Edmund's lawyer Stephen Jones... BLITZER: He will join us live in the next hour. What are you hearing, Brian, about some of these Internet suggestions, some Republicans suggesting this whole thing is a prank, a hoax and there is no there, there.
CNN REPORTER: "We asked him about that item in the DRUDGE REPORT. He said very clearly he cannot rule that in, he cannot rule that out. He says he is not saying it was not a prank but later in the interview, CNN pressed him on that. He said that he -- he does not read the DRUDGE REPORT, not part of his regular reading and, quote, it sounds like a piece of fiction...
BLITZER: He says the DRUDE REPORT item sounds like a piece of fiction?
CNN REPORTER: He did say that, but important to note he says he is not ruling it in or out.

Jones handles many areas of the law, not just criminal defense. Perhaps it is his familiarity with high profile cases that they used him.

BLITZER: He says the DRUDE REPORT item sounds like a piece of fiction? Wolf Blitzer wants to be able to sleep tonight thinking that the "Prank Story" is a piece of fiction according to Jordan lawyer and hence the story is not dead. The CNN reporter is not giving Wolf Blitzer the rest of mind that he wants.

So far I don't even think anyone has accused Foley of a crime, but I know there are some very nervous people behind this story. I hope anyone who held onto this story spends every penny he has on lawyers and hates taking "the oath" before TV cameras.

But Jones? Something smells. Agreed, that's pretty high-powered. But put yourself in this guy's place.
He's THE central figure in a high-profile scandal, and you've got to know that the all of the other folks will be coming after him with their big guns. If he's smart, he's going to start out with the best guy he can find.
It makes a great deal of sense to me.
Now that "prank" has raised its ugly head, it only makes it more imperative to have a top lawyer; but it was imperative anyway.

To recap, as I see it to date, a book was in the making about pages experiences while in DC. The pages decided that getting something on a sleaze Congressman would guarantee them a best seller - and be funny.
They set a trap. Foley fully complied with the goods. The publisher of said book the uber liberal, Robin Katsaros, has a son Chris, a gay uber liberal, who was a page in 2003 for Nancy Pelosi. The "joke" IM's were passed among the pages until Chris Katsaros gets ahold of the them and passes it through the dem ranks. The IM's are held until it was too late to change the FL ballot.
Foley is still guilty, maybe not legally, but morally and ethically. He answered the prank IM's as though they were real.
FBI now involved. All pages, staffers, operatives and gay "outers" are in way over their collective heads. It will all crumble very soon.

Jones is not a democrat. He is a staunch Republican.
To: CharlesWayneCT
REPUBLICANS ARE NOT SAYING THIS WAS ALL A JOKE, OR THAT THERE IS NO "THERE" there. There's plenty of "there" there -- Foley's actions were inexcusable, possibly illegal, and seriously detrimental to the Rs' electoral campaigns.
But even more "there," is the mechanism by which this scandal hit. Plenty of club to beat the D's with... ;-)

Jones is a Democrat... Nope...he's a Republican who unsuccessfully ran against David Boren for the US Senate in the early 90's. He never forgave the Republican base for its non-support of his candidacy.

Because Republicans are concerned about Foley behavior, but eventually if this is a Prank, then the story is dead.

Maybe Jordan is bi. And he could be gay/bi and still pranking.
The point is, Jordan has to make up his mind which story he is going to go with because no prank and not gay does not work.
