CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.
Developing...
Exactly-- this is bittersweet...
It will be SO SWEET to see the DBM and the Libs BUSTED again -
but if we had dealt with this thing head-on from the get go, this possible "prank" would have been revealed way before the FBI investigations were started, Pelosi got to grand-stand, and Foley could have handled this a LOT better than resgining and hiding, etc...due to a "scandal"
After this election, I want to get the "DC CYA" crowd OUT OF DC!
PcS for dUMmiEs: NEVER save anything personal to hard disk. Mr. ZipDisk and his separate storage area are your friends!
Exactly.
Foley is still scum because he thought it was real, but this was a set up by Edmund and I doubt strongly "accidentally" landed in the Dems hands given the hiring of the criminal defense attorney.
the Dems have just been stung by their own sting.
My understanding is that the page wanted to get Foley going ... Foley fell into the trap and made the suggestive posts.
The posts were shares with other pages ... and fell into the hands of Democrats who used them to pull an October Surprise.
Foley's still a creep ... but the Democrats used it to their advantage.
No, ABC was part of the dirty tricks planning and execution. We cannot let this pass without holding their feet to the fire. They placed it on their web site. Then they changed the posting to obfuscate the fact that they had this April '03 email, and thus knew he was an adult, and they tried to steal an election, and may yet steal an election.
ohhhhhh even better LOL!!
Hello.
Xtinct: Hello
Xtinct: Hello
I hope there's some way to reinstate this innocent man: Foley....
Well, it looks like Foley DID type those things in, but only having been first "solicited" by the page.
So he's not a predator then, but he's still not someone I would vote into office.
Let's show the world who the real homophobes are, and that gays in this country are being used as political tools to win elections.
In a very peculiar position.
Could someone please run over to Kinko's and fax the media some evidence?
More .... Per Drudge:
"According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats. This source, an ally of Edmund, also adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund."
The news come on the heels that former FBI Chief Louis Freeh has been named to investigate the mess.
I wish I could disagree (you probably do too) but this is a well founded fear.
The other day I overheard a Bush-hater talking about Bush's National Guard Service. He said that Bush faked documents to show he served, but that they were made with Microsoft Word instead of typewriters available in the 70's. In other words, he thought memogate was about Bush faking documents favorable to himself instead of CBS using forged documents that made Bush look bad.
****
Are you thinking of Jerry Lee Lewis? The girl was younger too.
I think there is plenty of smoke coming from Washington on both sides of the aisle. I would like 'nobody's senator but yours' from my state to answer a few questions about his prediliction for young men, and I think there are quite a few other congressmen/senators with skeletons in their closet who want to shut this thing down sooner rather than later. The law of unintended consequences could take hold here. When/if Freeh starts to investigate, the net he casts could snare many more fish than Foley.
As Rush said in a slightly different context this a.m.:
"The Democratic sewer is backing up!"
Accoring to the report it was a setup--the pages suckered Foley into writing the salacious IMs; thus he couldn't deny that he'd written them.
He should be fired and sued. I still want to know why Istook hired the San Diego folks who are way too young and inexperienced to run a Governor's campaign.
