clear statement about illegals and security - "squarely behind the President" in regards to security".
"It's fine if you want to oppose a possible Romney presidential run, but at least have the common sense to oppose him for intelligent reasons. He's hardly a tax-and-spender, and he's hardly a Marxist."
Two words: socialized medicine. He's a tax-and-spender and a Marxist. Deal with it.
I'm still skeptical but it has 2 things going for it: 1) it is not single payer and 2) it was designed by the Heritage Foundation.
The Heritage Foundation crafted a socialized medicine program? I think not.
I think so.
Look, this becomes an enormous waste of time. You like Romney, by all means be happy - vote for him. As far as I'm concerned, he's a tax-and-spend Marxist and he's unelectable. But jump on the bandwagon and join the cheering throngs if it brings sunshine to your day, yes? At all events, he's not gonna be the next president.
I like many things about him, including his poise and clarity of speech, but I am skeptical about his support for that socialistic sounding health reform just enacted in Mass. I didn't like that plan at all.
I was just talking to a couple of small business owners, They are paying the penalty fee instead of offering health care to their workers. It is cheaper than buying the insurance.
I think you misinterpreted my statement. Both Romney and Allen have been dropped from my hopeful list.
I'm still searching for my candidate, but I'm not finding him. It's not Guiliani, McCain, Gingrich, Romney, Pataki, Hagel, Allen, Frist. Who are left with?
Maybe Mike Huckabee? Brownback (even though he's pro-illegal)? Both are far off the radar screen (though it's still very very early).
Oh please, it's early.......every time I read about Bloomberg as a potential Rep Presidential candidate I feel ill. God help us.
One word: hyperbole. Get a grip.
I read an article a few days ago that was promoting southern Republican Governors for 2008 GOP contention.
GA - Sonny Perdue
AL - Bob Riley
SC - Mark Sanford
MO - Matt Blunt
AK - Mike Huckabee
I only know of my governor, Sonny Perdue. He's a decent guy but I don't see him as presidential. Missouri's Matt Blunt has a great resume on paper. Anyone have a review of him?
He must have very wise advisors. He invited the F&F crew into his house and produced a legendary piece. He will be rememberded for such a fantastic effort for a very long time.
Although I have for many years sworn off anything from Massachuttes, the man does have appeal.
I ran down to Faneuil Hall for the last 10 minutes of the show in my freshly minted FR Pajama Patrol T-shirt (Hey, 0cents.com guys, I bought the gold badge, so don't whine, besides, you don't offer a long sleeve pocket T).
I stood around behind the cameras, in line of sight of the hosts. I hope they saw the FR Pajama Patrol logo and knew a Freeper was in attendance, but I'm not sure they would even recognize it.
I stayed around for a while after the show wrapped.
Steve seemed like the most personable, hung out, talked to "the little people", took a lot of pictures, signed autographs, and schmoozed. His off-air and on-air personalities seem to match.
Brian mostly hung out with the cheerleaders, what a dawg.
Either that, or he was just staying in character. I doubt it, he spent waay too long looking up that cheerleader's skirt on-air. I felt like going over and reminding him he's married, a dad, and old enough to be their father.
Edy was a ways off, on the side (maybe for security), but I saw her talking to some ladies and taking pictures with fans.
I didn't get up the courage to approach Edy and give her greetings from the Freepers. Besides, I was sweaty from running, didn't have a camera for a picture, or paper for an autograph.
Definitely--that's what was predicted. So the next step will be to up the penalty fee to the point where it will be more expensive than buying insurance. Then business owners will be no choice. The government will have effectly mandated that employers provide health care to their workers.
Once the camel's nose is under the tent, it's only a matter of time before the camel gets himself entirely inside the tent.
Two words: socialized medicine. He's a tax-and-spender and a Marxist. Deal with it.
That's absurd. The man made his fortune as a venture capitalist...he helped bring Staples, the office supply company, through its IPO & to the success it has today.
To call him a Marxist is stupid and totally off base.
Back to reality Jack Hammer.
Definitely a RINO but one skilled in parsing his words to public in order to sound as though he agrees whatever group he appears before (ala Clinton.)
Romney is better than most of the spineless so-called conservatives in the Senate. Who cares if he doesn't prattle on about abortion (which the President can only appoint judges concerning)? I think he'd be a good nominee for 2008.
Staples was conceived and built up by a man named Leo Kahn, the same man who founded Stop & Shop, and a true venture capitalist. Romney was (and is) merely a slick, old money B School finagler. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Romney is a Massachusetts big government Lefty. In any case, it's academic; he won't get the nomination.
Exactly right; he's a spiritual cousin to The Slickster.
With George Allen basically spoiled meat, looks like Mitt is the man to carry the Conservative flag for '08.
aw, that must have been great! I was watching the show, but missed howie Carr saying Mitt's credentials was that "he's tall"....
Howie Carr CRACKS me up.
The first man to declare he is going after illegal immigrants WINS the next presidential election. Mitt might very well say that.
