I think he'll be a formidable candidate and really like him.

I like many things about him, including his poise and clarity of speech, but I am skeptical about his support for that socialistic sounding health reform just enacted in Mass. I didn't like that plan at all.

just said he would announce whether he would run after the Nov. elections or maybe after the New Year.

I agree. He's articulate, good looking, no known skeletons in his closet, conservative and relatively popular in one of the most liberal states in the nation.

This article could be subtitled "The Watch on the RINO." A Mitt Romney presidency would be a disaster for the U.S.

You know, I didn't like that plan either, until I started reading about it, and although my understanding of how health care systems work is limited, I didn't think it sounded so bad after all.

i didn't think it was socialistic when i read about it, pretty much lumping people in for group rates i think. I really like him.

Who are we going to be left with? I originally thought George Allen would be okay, but he turned out to be "not ready for primetime" by his appearance on Meet the Press.

I agree. He has a certain Bill Clinton "slickness" about him. I think he is just fooling the conservatives hoping to get their support, then when (if) he becomes president his true liberal colors will come flying out. No question in my mind he is a RINO.

A Mitt Romney presidency would be a disaster for the U.S.

On the contrary. Romney was a world class businessman and superstar entrepreneur before he ever got involved in politics. He would be quite possibly the most business-savvy president in the nation's history.

When business does well and the economy is healthy, everyone benefits enormously.

The best thing about President Bush's administration so far has been his tax-cutting, aggressive pro-growth economic policies. Romney would shift these into overdrive.

Yes, totally unlike that "true conservative" George W. Bush's Presidency. ;)

Romney's the best we're going to get. He's not public-speaking-challenged like Bush, he's not mentally unbalanced like McCain, he's not a hotheaded dolt like Allen, and he's not a social liberal like Giuliani. The worst you can say about him is that he is a Mormon, but that's a far more moderate cult than most other Republicans belong to these days. Romney's not leading right now, but he's gaining support - and no one more conservative has even the slightest chance of winning the 2008 general election.

It's unfortunate that there aren't a crop of brilliant young Reaganite conservatives ready to move into senior positions in government. But the RNC has only itself to blame for that. As a proven and capable administrator, Romney would be a far more effective President than any of his competitors except Giuliani.

As a Massachusetts resident who's watched Romney's career for many years, I can say with some degree of authority that he's a disaster. 1. Massachusetts tax-and-spend, Big Government Marxist, 2. Anti-Second Amendment, 3. Pro-abortion, 4. Enacted socialized medicine, 5. constant waffling on significant issues. For starters. However, I'm not gonna waste time on an on-site debate. Vote for him if you wish; I guarantee you'll regret it.

Allen did seem to be the 'go to' guy for a while, but recently he's been stumbling and fumbling and trying to dance around most issues.

Romney seems to be emerging as the new 'go to' guy.

The last thing we need is the Senate Bloviators -- on either ticket -- to be P or VP nominees.

Romney is the genuine article. Clinton's split-tongued nature and sexual peccadilloes were rumored about and known for decades before he was elected president. The Democrats in Massachusetts have looked just as hard if not harder for such evidence in Romney's background for over a decade and have found nothing.

I don't know Romney personally, but I do know people who know him very well. He is just as he appears, to the core.
