"Poor George. He cain't he'p it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
Wasn't that from her?
Yep.
Yes. But she's dead. She wasn't evil. Let's show some respect.
What do you want to bet that he or Laura or both will attend her funeral.
It was a good line for a political speech was it not?
Apparently that was from the 1988 DNC. Then Mikey and Lloyd lost.
Prayers for her family. She was a character!
Her other famous quote was: "Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels."
I met Ann Richards in the spring of 1989...she was checking in to the hotel in NYC right next to me. I couldn't help but make a friendly comment to her about whose "foot" was now in the White House. She laughed and we chatted briefly.
She was very charming.
Blessings and condolences to her family.
Yeah, that was real funny........NOT! Her mouth finally caught up with her when she called GW a "jerk" in his run for gooberner.........we all know what happened. I'm sorry for her family and I hope God will comfort them during this time.
"'Poor George. He cain't he'p it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.'
Wasn't that from her?"
Yes, it was from her.
And, God help us, it was true.
That was from her!
Yeah. But unfortunate for her...The ole gal was born with a smoke and scotch in her mouth. Drank too hard for too long. At least she lived life though.
I write a topical humor service for radio, writing one-liners for radio hosts who read them as if they were their own. It's my wit, but they write a check and get the credit. By coincidence, just last week, I had dinner with a friend who knows the guy who actually wrote that line for Ann Richards, as well as many of her other speeches, and we were talking about it. Meaning no disrepect to Gov. Richards, but I'm sure that clip will be shown countless times over the next few days, to remind everyone of what a great way with words she had. But when the guy who actually wrote it dies, the world at large will take no notice. Such is the frustrating lot of those of us who put words into the mouths of celebrities.
We have to pretend we liked her now that she's dead. I'd rather not be a hypocrite, so I won't say anything.
Yes that was from her, and afterwards she was defeated in the texas Governership by "poor George's" son....W HAHA!!!
"Poor George. He cain't he'p it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
Wasn't that from her? >>>
it sure was and it didn't work, ann was gov. for one term and stunk so they voted her out.
and did she ever say the same about ted kennedy and john fn kerry?
Yep.
One wonders how Larry King will fill the void with now that his guests are down to Jimmy Carter and Carol Burnett.
yes it was and it was played over and over again on our local news channel in los angeles last night. i guess thats all they will remember her for.
I wrote a variant for Clinton: "Poor Bill. He cain't he'p it. He was born with a forked tongue in his mouth."
