This just crossed my desk...
AUSTIN (AP) -- A family spokeswoman says former Texas Gov. Ann Richards has died at her home.
I would. People have a right to their own opinions and values. I respect them for that.
"WAS THIS THE SAME PERSON WHO SHAMED A SITTING PRESIDENT SAYING " GOERGE BUSH WAS BORN WITH A SILVER FOOT IN HIS MOUTH " I'M SORRY, BUT I AM NOT IN MORNING. PEOPLE WHO PROMOTE HATE SHOULD NOT BE CANNIZED AS SAINTS."
It was a funny line... Hateful? Please. It's just politics w/a sense of humor.
Well are you in afternoon or evening, perhaps dead of night?
To me, Richards' comments about the silver spoon were class warfare...
It is interesting that over at www.huffingtonpost.com that the moonbats are mourning the death of this great Texan. Pretty much every other day there are comments about how Texas is a backwater state full of pickup-driving gun-toting mouthbreathers with low IQ.... Those people at HuffPo are priceless....
Was there ever any mention here of Nellie Connally's passing? I looked briefly for a thread, but didn't see one and didn't search too hard.
I admired her and loved Big John, at a distance. Being nouveau poor, as I am, I recalled how dignified they both were when they sat in the front row at the auction of all their beautiful things, a lifetime collection, when they declared bankruptcy.
"I don't agree. I am not a moral relativist. All deaths are not the same."
Then you need to get either a dictionary or a book on logic.
If you think deaths are good or bad relative to who has died, then you more surely ARE a moral relativist, by definition and your own example.
I'll never forget GWB win in 1994: I overheard a few women lament that Dubya was going to usher in Jim Crow. Also heard, "His daddy paid for the win." Dems never come up with anything new and they all say the same thing...
Ann was popular with some but she been re-elected, she planned to introduce state income tax.
I cannot help but notice the class and reverence noted in this, and similar threads by Freepers. Despite utter and complete disagreement with Richards' politics, prayers and condolences are readily offered to her and her family.
I wonder how DU's comments ran on the passing of President Reagan. Actually, I don't wonder. And that is why the dems continue to lose. And they should.
Three things: first, stop yelling! I can hear you! Second, if you're that concerned about "shaming a sitting president," may I presume that you didn't criticize Bubba while he was in office? And thirdly, may I also presume that you have issue with anyone who criticizes (even constructively) President Bush?
All that being said, it's too bad you cannot separate politics from just being a gentleman. I'm not asking you to lionize the woman, but it is only polite to be civil.
May God comfort and bring peace to her family.
I saw this first hand when my ex father-in-law died. Most anyone that knew him while he was alive, knew him to be mean, mean despicable man, and yet when he died, many of these same people wailed and cried and carried on about how much he would be missed.
My feelings then and now, he was a sonofab**** while he was alive...he was a sonofab**** when he died. Death does not change the life lived.
"Poor George. He cain't he'p it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
Wasn't that from her? >>>
it sure was and it didn't work, ann was gov. for one term and stunk so they voted her out.
and did she ever say the same about ted kennedy and john fn kerry?
And just remember that "crude" is a very respectable word in Texas, a vertitable term of honor!
Your also pretty well up on current and I'd assume recent past politics. I'm talking about the blockbuster crowd that thinks they're politically savvy if they go vote every 4 years.
Thankfully the Mods get rid of the stinkers on this forum.
You and your crew also didn't feel terribly sad when Prime Minister Rabin was murdered by one of your Kahane Kach Klan members, and that definitely makes you a bad person.
Many prayers and blessings for family and friends...
Rest in peace. She was in the mold of the Tom Delay non-lawyer attack dog pol, used and tossed aside once her usefulness had run it's course. I think she was a vile politician but she's a human all the same. Condolences to the family.
