You're exactly right. And even after Bush took office and pre 09/11, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them still felt they weren't getting enough support. Bureaucracy is an unwieldy beast, in certain ways unmanageable no matter how much you wish you could.

And don't I know it!
This episode happened a few years before the couple in Chicago felt the full wrath of this evil pair. If I had known about it, I would not have been calling them scum and evil and crooks etc., loud enough for a whole lot of people to hear. :-)

Our Military who protect our freedom unless we convert are our hero's and so many from 9/11.My son Joe went to the site to help as a Philadelphia firefighter to represent.

Re Cowboy on a camel: There was once a US Camel Corps. It was a test unit, they decided camels weren't suited to conditions in the American Southwest. The CO, Major Henry C. Wayne, is honored as the first Army Operational tester, in the
Operational Test Command Hall of Fame. I kid you not, I've seen the plaque. The second was Lt. Benjamin D. Foulois who tested the aeroplane in 1910.

A final tribute to the hero who might have saved America, if only they had listened. He was truly the "Lion". The real Massoud.

I hardly consider the Constitution and rights of ALL citizens as windmills...but apparently some do. As do I. However foreign citizens are another matter entirely. Also some of those naturalized Muslim citizens likely became citizens under false pretenses, which IIRC is grounds for revocation of that citizenship.

Amen and in spades!
Not only would I have been ignominiously dragged off to jail ( or maybe not, Rudy was mayor back then ), but bankrupt from the lawyers' fees.

I would say President Bush has had the greatest challenge thrust on him since Abraham Lincoln. If you think so then you are greatly underestimating the danger of the Nazis and especially the Communists.
Map of the world in 1980
Note: this map isn't entirely accurate: China, India, and Iran probably would have allied with the USSR in the event of a major war and many of our blue allies wouldn't have done anything to help.

"Big bureaucracies don't work any more. That's why border security is going local."
I said the EXACT same thing about the TSA. Airport Security should have been handled by the LOCAL POLICE AGENCIES, with all staff having POLICE POWERS.
Many Cities, like Indianapolis, already HAD independent Airport Police Departments, that could have been up and running with this in weeks, instead of the MONTHS of Endless politicizing of the TSA...
But SOMEBODY (Democrats) kept demanding that they ALL be Federal Employees, with the political appointments to buy votes with...
