Christian website hopes to win the faithful for the Democrats -07/09/06

A new Christian website has been set up to try and change the minds of the many American Christian voters who tend to see the Republicans as their natural party of choice.

FaithfulDemocrats.com is not officially part of the Democrat party. However it claims to comprise religious and political leaders, writers, and regular Americans who are ‘committed to the Gospel and the common good’.

Echoing the calls of Jim Wallis, dubbed by the UK press ‘Gordon Brown’s Guru’, that Christianity has been hijacked by Republicanism, FaithfulDemocrats.com aims to mobilise voters over the coming election season and beyond.

Co Director Roy Herron says he is pushing for “FaithfulDemocrats.com to help the Church avoid the heresy that Jesus is a captive of any political party.”

To some sceptics this may seem like one of the hardest tasks imaginable in a country where religion tends to favour the political Right. However the Associated Baptist Press reports that key members of Faithful Democrats hold similar views to those often associated with the Religious Right. Roy Herron stands in agreement with Pro-lifers and those opposed to same sex marriages.

However Faithful Democrats hope to transcend these issues and show a fuller and deeper ‘biblical’ concern for the poor, oppressed and marginalised which they see as being best suited to democratic ideas.

Herron is quick to point out that neither he, nor the tradition he grew up in, conflated the Democratic Party with the Church. Herron does not claim that all Christians have to be Democrats and he does not question the validity of the faith of Christian Republicans.

I had no idea there was such a heresy. Never heard of it before.

I do know that Jesus is called "The Great Physician."

How many of you can even for a second believe that The Great Physician would conduct an abortion?

(or side with other "physicians" who do?)

And these demonspawn claim that makes them 'christians' so voters should trust that these democraps are religious and 'just as good as republicans who do not hold their same values'. Sadly, the demonic ploy will work and has worked like a charm for deacdes, during which time the democrat party has even descended so low in their demon god's cesspool as to support partial birth infanticide as a worthy cause to defend, for democrat empowerment. Really makes a true Christian want to throw in with them don'tchaknow. How sad that Americans are now so stoopid as to believe this spin because they want to, because they've been so thoroughly brainwashed in hate and lies. America was a grand experiment. Alas, the democrat party managed to end it with a long, drawnout whimper as Americans are slaughtered in massive numbers, first int he womb then in the buildings and streets laid open to terrorism by a degenerate and his minions who refused to fight the terrorists, and later by democrats who lied their way back into power only to stop the waging of war against terrorists in a way that could blunt and kill the terrorists. We the people will get what we deserve for fialing to exercise our sovereignty and reject the twisted degenerate party of democrats.

I can't think of much that is Christian regarding Democrats.

First off they are racists in fact while calling everyone else racist in name.
They also constantly want to break one of the Ten Commandments of God... Thou shall NOT COVET thy neighbor's goods (then they try and tax thy neighbor's goods to their pockets).
Lastly, they are pretty unethical and rely on dependent people to get power.

I'm sure this site will appeal to Democrats who call themselves Christian and try to show up for services on Christmas and Easter.

You cannot in good conscience be a believing Christian and a Democrat at the same time.

Nor a straight party ticket voting Republican. Go back in history a couple of decades. It was a Republican, Independent, and Democrat who formed a grass roots org that changed political history and ushered in the Reagan era and that led to the GOP majority in both houses. I do not believe myself that any political party has the blessings of GOD especially now. Our leaders whatever party they belong to are only a reflection of our nations moral character or rather growing lack of it.

Leaders if the moral conscience of the nation as a whole is good will be blessed with wise leaders and will prosper. Nations who fall away are cursed with poor leadership even though some among the leadership may be good persons.

Some may laugh but in the 1980's we enjoyed national prosperity and stood tall before the world. Where are we today? We have the most knowledge and greatest technology of almost any nation on earth yet where are our successes now? We tolerate evil in our government over some misguided notion of a lesser than two evils voting system which is now used to excuse having poor candidates. We are the most brilliant nation yet look at our leadership on both sides. We have some of the worst minds leading this nation in both parties yet none call them evil if they belong to their own party.

Until people get over it's the DEM's vs the GOP and instead start addressing it as the character of candidates the good and wise vs the evil and foolish we will not see change in this nations direction. We have two parties steering us in the same direction now because we allow ourselves to vote for evils.

If a DEM comes up and says he/she is pro-life, pro traditional marriage, and pro family values I will vote for such over a Republican who will vote for such things as abortion, same sex unions, and programs that destroy the family. I do not believe any party including independents own Jesus. I believe if he walked into the nations Capitol as he did the Temple both parties tables would be turned over and scattered.

Don't vote solely for a party vote for a candidate instead if none is exceptable then don't vote in that office in protest. Let the LORD handle it from there. Do what is right and not seems expedient. Vote on what you believe in and support those running for office who hold your values. When We The People have a change of heart our nation will be healed. No political party is gonna save this nation only changed hearts will and that means in both parties and the nation as a whole.

How silly. Everyone expected these posers to do this. People have been driving around with the "Proud member of the Reigious Left" bumper stickers for months, now. The media has their orders to hyp it up too. Just wait until the '08 DNC convention, they're gonna reference God like never before!

Unfortunately, it's gonna come through as empty, EMPTY "chatter". Regular folks in the "middle vote" know who's who.

Saying what I said though I could not support that groups co-founder Roy Herron and here is why. Tennessee State Senate Approves Pro-Life Constitutional Amendment

Nope Roy you fall short of the mark as you support abortion according to your statement.

Sen. Roy Herron, D-Dresden joined a group of legislators in voting against the proposal because he says it fails to guarantee that women will have the right to an abortion in those limited circumstances.

This is the one and the same Roy Herron.

Regarding the comment that one can not be a Christian and a Democrat at the same time, you got that right.

The left is so good at using a Christian cannard when it suits them. I have heard lefties explain that Hitler was a Christian when they need to disparage Christians. Now in this case we are supposed to believe that Dems are Christian. Whatever.
