New poll says most Canadians blame U.S. for 9/11 attacks
CBC News ^ | September 7, 2006 |

A majority of Canadians believe U.S. foreign policy was one of the root causes that led to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and Quebecers are quicker to criticize the U.S. administration for its international actions than other Canadians, a recent poll suggests.

Those conclusions are found in a newly released poll conducted by Léger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies.

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.

Canadian opinions have hardened against the United States and its role on the world stage, said Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association for Canadian Studies. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to a change of heart among people, he said.

"did you get out to the Parliament Hill ceremony today? "

Fanfan did, as that's her stomping grounds, but not me.

Hey, someone has to keep an eye on Toronto - "the mega-city of evil".

BTW, as for your other comments, "spoken like a true blue conservative gentleman"!

LOL. Ok.
I do not have a burr anywhere in regards to Canadians. I have found that most central and western Canadians to be much like me. I have no use for french Canadians.

Well GMMAC, despite your well reasoned and seasoned arguments, there are two sayings that apply here in regard to everyone's give-and-take with Mr. NoCommonSense, which are:

a.) Don't cast your pearls before swine.

b.) Don't feed the Troll.

That joker is playing everybody in this thread.

Fair Go, Let's see did I mention either of those individuals you asked me about? Answer: Nope.

Also, I see no point in discussing this further w/ you since all you really seem to care about that I can see is name calling b/c you can't dispute directly my analysis of the poll.

As far as the capitalization, you're not going to get me to stop doing it so give it up. BTW, your attempt @ an analogy by using Australia is silly since they do not correspond. Reason being, what you refer to re Australia is something from their history of many, many yrs ago & I am referring to current canadian actions. Same thing goes for Japan you are comparing something from many yrs ago to something much more current.

If I were part of the lunar left I'd be agreeing w/ the 63% of canadians that agreed in some manner w/ the statement of: "The Sept. 11 attacks were primarily the result of U.S. Foreign Policy". Since I do not agree @ all w/ that statement (that the USA was the primary reason for 9-11) then I'm not part of the lunar left.

BTW, In case YOU didn't know...typing us instead of US actually changes the meaning of the word, where as, not capitalizing canada doesn't. The word us is a pronoun but US is an abbreviation of a noun/name. If you wanted to try & "insult back" me you should've typed u.s. See you can't even get that right. :)

GMMAC,

"Stop calling me a troll for I AM NOT a troll. What I see as your incessant name calling of me & other false accusations of me, a fellow poster - newbie or not, is growing tiresome. I've gotten accused by another of being childish, well IMHO, the continued name calling of a fellow poster is what is childish.

And I am not going to answer any more of your questions/accusations unless/until you either say that you WEREN'T accusing ME of changing my FR home pg (in an attempt to "hide" something) or if you WERE accusing me... until you retract the incorrect statement of accusing me of changing my FR home pg. It is one thing to disagree w/ my opinions/conclusions/analysis of things BUT quite another to make completely inaccurate statements about what I have/have not done esp when it insinuates deception on my part."

mkjessup, You apparently are also unable to dispute directly my analysis of the poll & instead prefer to follow the examp of SOME of the "adults" (term used loosely) on this thread & engage in name calling instead so there is also no point in talking to you about this subject either.

CaptainCanada, Oh I see, you also can't dispute my analysis but instead of name calling you resort to a "cyber kicking".

-- --

So in conclusion: Since nobody in this thread that doesn't like my analysis of the poll has made an honest attempt to actually dispute my analysis (but instead have decided to be name callers like playground children) I guess they admitted defeat by default & can have what they want & I'll stop trying to post in this thread.

Young Canadians are fighting and dying in Afghanistan alongside Americans in the wot. Australians have now joined them. How dare you insult any country that is supporting your country.

I wonder why these news organizations care what Canadains think. Maybe because they can't find enough Americans to say it was Bush's fault so they have to go to a socialist country to find the answers they want.

Foreign policy was the last thing on anyones mind in the 1990's. The question is this: If there had been no Ross Perot, would the left be stronger than it is today. They are discredited and and their grass roots support is the hard left lunatic fringe.

Would they be as nutty if Clinton had never been in office?

Will Canadians blame themselves when they are attacked?

Of course not! Everybody knows it will be Bush's fault. (sarc off)

Another place I can add to my list of countries I will never again visit. And trust me, that's no big loss. I can't say as I've ever enjoyed a trip to Canada, with the sole exception being maybe the kitschy Niagra Falls.

We went to Canada up the North shore of Lake Superior. Absolutely breathtaking beauty! But after we reached Thunder Bay, we turned back west to go back to the states through International Falls, Mn. Nothing but swamps and pine trees. Total desolation. We drove for hours and hours and no people, cars or towns. Just nothing. If we ever go back, it will be just to Thunder Bay and back down the coast to Duluth. And we won't spend any money.

The CBC DOES NOT represent the Canadian perspective ... as they claim to do.

I never understood why Canada would allow Aljezeera TV in Canada but ban FoxNews.

Unfortunately the media in Canada is so left winged biased it makes the lame stream media in the US look like it is conservative. Canadians are for the most part friendly to the US but have been jaded by CBC, the Toronto Red Star and the US media without anything to counter the bias that they get polluted with that they don't know any better. Canadians don't like President Bush but love Bill Clinton. It is said that the closest neighbor and what should be a close supportive ally is being lied to by the Canadian media. Canadians would be more conservative if better informed. Unfortunately now most believe what they read in the Star or hear on the CBC.

Do they have FoxNews in Canada? If not, they should have.

Canadians have access to FOX ... for the last couple of years. This Friday over 10 thousand Canadians showed up on Parliament Hill wearing red in honor of their Canadian forces serving in the WOT ... it was called Red Friday. In case you're wondering why red, the Canadian Maple Leaf on their national flag is red. This Red Friday thing is expected to grow and will occur each Friday in Ottawa (Canada's capitol) and Provincial capitols around Canada (excepting Quebec). (For those of you in Rio Linda, Ottawa is Canada's capitol and Provincial capitols are sort of like state capitols here in the good ol' US of A). I might add ... Canadian forces, part of the coalition forces in Afghanistan are kicking Taliban butt big time ... on a man for man (on the ground) force comparison, in that country, their kill ratio far exceeds other forces ... even the USA.

Aljezeera is broadcast at the discretion of the carrier. FOX is available as a pay channel.

We appreciate the service of the Canadian troops. God bless them. And wearing red is a good thing you are doing. I got anemail wanting the people in the US to do it, too but it don't look like its catching on. I do my part. I think, like ours, your media is doing Canada a great disservice.

Another place I can add to my list of countries I will never again visit. And trust me, that's no big loss.

I spent a good portion of my career in the States (all over) - at least 100 days per year for a period of approx 20 years. I must say that almost all Americans I met over those years were really great folks and it'd be hard to differentiate the average American and the average Canadian.
It was no doubt my positive perspective of America that help motivate my son to move permanently to the States.
So how come we're on a forum (FR) where there are so many Canadian bashing dickheads..
I'm beginning to think that there are far more Canadian bashers in the Conservative ranks in the U.S. than in any other demographic - and at a time when our boys are fighting and dying together in Afghanistan..
I guess the Conservative tent in the U.S. is big enough to include ignorant dickheads...
BTW, we're happy that people like you no longer come to Canada. We don't need you and we don't want you ("you" meaning Canada bashers). So, FU.
