How did the next door neighbor get a chance to molest a 2 year old? That one would think would be with it's mother nearly all the time

VIGILANTE: Jonathon Edington, walking free yesterday on $1 million bond, just moved into his homein March. He allegedly snapped after his wife said their daughter, 2, had been molested. France has, or had, a law excusing crimes of passion. Surely this would count....

Good luck finding a jury to convict him unless its a jury of 12 NAMBLA members.

This was in the paper a few days ago. WE all could learn from this one.

If lawyers don't believe in the rule of law, who else should?

Hopefully the trial will lead to more insight on the actual incident of molestation. We can better assess what's happening then. Right now the details are too sparse and while I can sympathize, we just don't know enough yet.

He had just been informed his neighbor was somehow sexually involved with his 2 year old.

He went straight home and attacked and killed his neighbor.

Most men fear this scenario as unimaginable and state it often. The wife must have known this was going to trigger a response.

Did she kill two birds with one stone?

"The daughter gave the mother information which was alarming and disturbing."

Apparently, the information was credible enough to the parents to send them over the edge.

Now days with our girly man Justice system, where the neighbor would have received a slap on the wrist for molestation, to get real justice you have to DIYS.

Not only was she molested, she also gets to grow up in a single parent home. Nice move chief. Who's going to protect her for the next 16 years? She'll probably get molested by one of the men that her 'soon to be single' mom brings home.

Strange story, and not necessarily to be believed. He could have killed the guy for some other reason and then convinced his wife to lie about a child-mollestation motive, for instance.

Anyway, 'losing it' doesn't justify killing. And Freepers who condemn the victim on the basis of the killer's lawyer's report of the killer's report of his wife's report of their two-year-old's report may eventually be embarrassed.

If the victim had instead pulled out a gun and shot Edington dead, we'd have a thread celebrating another armed citizen exercising his 2nd Amendment Rights, another home invasion thwarted, another perp removed from society.

It's sad the court's won't protect children -- because if they won't, father's will. I suspect the same system that gives predators a slap on the wrist will go after the father -- Is there a legal defense fund set up him? A link maybe?

Maybe the wife wanted rid of her husband and knew how he would react if told his two year had been molested.

If the molestation really happened, where do we send our donations for this man's medal?

Well, some have suggested that maybe James didn't molest the child, but I think for the most part, 2-year olds usually aren't even aware that child molestation exists, unless it happens to them. If the child said "Mommy, that man did something bad to me..." and went on to describe what he did, I'd probably tend toward thinking that something bad actually did happen.

Living in 21st century society, looking at this situation from the outside, it's easy to see that there might have been a more appropriate way to handle it that wouldn't have gotten the girl's father charged with killing this guy. Since we're now obliged to play by "girl's rules" rather than "frontier justice", the smartest thing the father could have done was call the cops, take a tranquilizer, and get some counseling for what he was going through.

But ya know, there are just certain things that will trigger an immediate demand for rough justice, the consequences be damned, and this was one of them. This was one of those situations where the perp's right to a fair trial by a jury of his peers isn't really in effect until the molester makes it safely into the protective custody of the police, in a nice secure jail.

But, admittedly, Edington could have handled the situation differently. Lawyers have lots of money, they know lots of unscrupulous felons, and he could have arranged for someone else to do the deed and make the evidence disappear. And everybody would have said, "Aw gee, that foul-mouthed naked weirdo Barry James must've gotten drunk and fallen in the river and drowned".

If it had been me, you would have had to chain me up to keep me from doing the same thing Edington did.

Back in the day in Texas, a perfectly acceptable defense for homicide was that the other fella was somebody who needed killing. Somebody shot the neighborhood bully, the rest of the neighborhood said "yup, he had it coming" and that was it. There also used to be a Temporary Insanity defense, but it's not generally recognized now.

Too bad for that. Hopefully the judge and jury will take the circumstances into consideration at sentencing.

He should have just broke in and cut the guys tackle off. Then he would have just been guilty of assault.
