Good luck finding a jury to convict him unless its a jury of 12 NAMBLA members.

That's if the guy was even guilty of molestation. Dennis raises a good point in post 2--how did he have access to a two-year-old? Unless the parents are seriously whacked, they wouldn't have had the guy babysitting--he's described in the article as an obscenity-spouting alcoholic who liked to parade around in the nude. Unless there's a lot more than we're told in the article, it sounds like the husband acted in way too much haste.

He'd be much better off with a Texas jury.
Connecticut will probably throw a "hate crime" charge on top of it all.

I'd convict him if the neighbor didn't do it - or if what he did do was not that serious - like patting her on the bottom.
The dad didn't catch him in the act - which would have made it justifiable if he had in my opinion.
To kill your neighbor base on a two year old's word is very shaky - to put it mildly... The neighbor deserved a trial on a he said she said situation at a minimum.

If he saw the guy doing it that's one thing, but a little investigation ought to be expected before imposing capital punishment.

As a father myself, I would not convict the dude even if a videotape shows he sliced the guy up in the middle of Time Square during rush hour...
