Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.

The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.

However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

Not meaning any disrespect to the occasion and the people, but does anyone else get a flashback to The Princess Bride when seeing this?

Or...I'd make "empty bus" jokes all evening

Or...continuously pass a dish of chocolates. ;*)

Well put. THEN, to have all the reports of doom and gloom handed over to him each morning, keep the schedule he does, and .... He wears me out just THINKING of it all!

I believe this is what my PM does when he attends a Catholic church with his wife who is a catholic but not 100% sure as not really up on catholic practises.

This MADE my day!

"New Orleans Saints football players stay in the shade of Air Force One as they wait for President Bush to arrive. The Saints wanted a team photo with the president."

My daughter was in England for her best friend's wedding, along with several others from the states. They all rented hats as they were told it was in bad taste to attend a wedding without a hat.

LOL! I don't think the University scheduled my first classes to coincide with the Katrina anniversary, jonny.

Well when you put it like that ... ;)

They are dripping with condescension for this good man, and they don't usually bother getting the facts straight either.

Absolutely right. I have to say though, with a couple of exceptions, most of the captions were pretty fair today. Some of the photos weren't, of course, but they weren't Dose material anyway :)

Jonny, Thank you so much for the Dose! I appreciate your work. I knew there would be good pictures today! It is nice to see Gen. Honore again--though I could do without Mayor Nagin. I like seeing that Secret Service agent right behind GWB in the church. He must be about the number one guy--he sticks very close.

Thanks again for your work!

It was the enormous, teased, bushel-basket sized hairdos that did the hat in. I guess they couldn't make them big enough to cover the hair

You mean "the beehive"? LOL! I remember when I was a boy, there was a lady that went to our church--she sported an ENORMOUS beehive. You couldn't see around it! It blocked the sun :)
