Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.
The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.
However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

Yep, my tongue would be all swollen from having to "bite" it so much, if it were me!
Congratulations!!
I had the same yuck reaction to Laura having to sit next to The Mayor. And EAT while seated there ... Nerves of Steel that woman has. You know how darkness has no fellowship with light -- I imagine that seating arrangement and all this hauling himself around New Orleans has taken a toll on Nagin as well. I mean, he must be gagging because he clearly does not have the time of day for the president and first lady except when there is political advantage to be gained by it, or image lost if he doesn't put in some face time with the president. Not that I feel sorry for Nagin on this account. I think of all those people who died and wonder how he faces himself in the morning.
How did you know? :) I've got most of my stuff packed now.
"It's the thought that counts ;)"
Zactly!
LOL RE: Your version of what the President was praying!
I sent you a FRmail earlier . . .
Maybe that's something new; a practicing Catholic will have to fill us in. When I was a Catholic, pre-Vatican II, I never saw such a thing. If you couldn't take communion, you stayed in your seat.
You've got a lot of friends to support you, mystery, when your guys are gone. We'll be here and God in heaven will be watching over them too.
It is so sad because of this corruption whatever the Federal Government or the President says or does it will seem enough.
Prayers and big hugs for comfort, triumph, and safe return.
I wish I still had that .gif of the dude poking a stick at another dude. That'd be Bush with the stick, Nagin and whatzername the governor being prodded.
Did you notice how restrained I was last night? I never said a word about that. I feel the same way when I see one of our First Family subjected to the likes of that...that...gov'ner. (Even though I was thinking of plenty of things to say! )
President Bush meets with musician Fats Domino in New Orleans, Louisiana, August 29, 2006.
"Just there, maybe a little more to the right!" (scratching his back)
My parents just moved to SW MO; near Boliver. We went to visit a few weeks ago and it is beautiful there! (did you and I talk about this before we went down there? I chatted about MO with someone from down there . . . )
